Most Insane Sidecar Project Ever!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Even though three-wheeled vehicles kind of sketch me out, I’ve always wanted a bike with a sidecar. And while my dream machine is a dead-simple, olive-drab WWII-era Harley, the craftsmanship evident on François Knorreck’s Laverda-based project is astonishing. While the 1000cc engine was carried over from the original bike, and some parts were lifted from a few cars—Renault, Citroen, BMW, VW and Audi—virtually everything else was custom fabricated by Knorreck. The sidecar is set up to carry two passengers, and though I have to wonder what the handling is like—Predictable? Scary?—I’d be more than willing to take it for a spin. Head over to the Kneeslider for more details on the build, and check out a couple more pics after the jump.

the concept is great and i like the look but one the driver needs some cover and the agility of the vehicle may be a question when it come to turns. but over all great look

Turning left and right are going to be worlds different, especially at speed. Cool idea though and extremely well executed.

Now that’s awesome. At least no one will have to worry about falling of the Motorcycle while driving on wet roads or speeding just to get by traffic. The sidecar will be there to break there fall!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is wicked awsome to look at….but the handleing has got to be scary. Where’s the articulation? Oh well…Notice there is no picture of the right side save for the passenger compartment?Wonder if you can pull a wheelie with it? What would that be like for the two bimbos you take out friday night? Tooooo many questions!!!!!

Sorta looks like an optical illusion from the side. And it would be cool if there was an eject button that divided it into a bad ass crotch rocket and a super neat mini Gallardo.

In terms of amenities and appearance yeah… this has no equal.

From a rider’s standpoint though, an articulated sidecar setup that allows leaning would probably give better performance.
