Caption Contest!
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
We had this in the blog a few weeks ago but figured it was definitely worthy of a caption contest. But you’ll have to think of something other than “where babies come from.” You know the drill: Come up with a caption for the picture below by noon PST next Thursday. If you submit the funniest one, we’ll send you some CarDomain swag. Three entries per member max. Good luck!

LeMons Gear: Third-hand Fire Suit
Atomicalex
Racing used cars is cool and all, but wearing used safety gear while doing it just raises the bar. My goal: an SFI 3.2/1 rated racing suit and the required longjohns and collar for $125 or less. I had complained to Jay Lamm about the lack of Ladies’ gear in the Pyrotect line, and he told me to take a spool of Nomex thread to my tailor. I saved that email: I can tailor, and I can get Nomex thread. That opened up a lot of options for me, including this stylish Speed Sport Uniforms piece in slimming black Nomex that Rob’s wife (ex-wife?) was selling for my magic price. Even better – it’s a two layer suit, which means SFI 3.2/5 and no longjohns required. The full SFI 3.2/5 kit from Pyrotect is LeMons-priced at $635, so I’m officially WAY under budget now. I got it home and discovered that Rob had bought it from some guy named Matt, who had enough money to pay for embroidery. I washed it twice, once for each of them. I’ll get it tailored in the next few weeks so I can rep CarDomain and Team Trailing Throttle Oversteer in style.

Can You Identify This Car?
Gotadime
In Round Six, multi-round winner Maffew guessed correctly with “MG Midget.” It seems that we’ve been having a bit of a spam filter problem, so from this point on, I will check the spam filters every round, just to be sure that I’ve got the winner correct. If you have filter problems, try adding “substance” to your comment, rather than just posting up your answer / guess (the filters like to block small comments).
Now, on to Round Seven. The first person to guess the car correctly based on the pic below is a true car nut! Remember, all you need is the make and model—not the year. Here’s photo seven:

DUB Tour Rolls Into Charlotte Tomorrow
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
I’ve been desk-bound—or um, not—since getting back from SEMA way back in November, which kind of sucks. Last year at this time? I was flying all around the country and seeing all kinds of wicked stuff! Oh well. I went to a bunch of DUB shows last year, and while I never stuck around for the music, I’d make an exception for the Charlotte stop. Lethal Injection was in my CD changer for years, and I’ve never gotten to see Ice Cube live. If you’re in the area he’s worth the admission alone.

Caption Contest: This Week's Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Given this shot is a little more “serious” than ones we usually post, I wasn’t sure what to expect this week—but I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, I’m going to have to do something I’ve never done before, and announce that this week’s Caption Contest has resulted in a tie! Both of our lucky winners just nailed it, and I honestly couldn’t decide between them. gtimegarage hit it out of the park with “Look guys if this is about me using a Toyota four-banger I can explain…”, and pttransamdriver totally killed with “I suppose you’re all wondering why I called you here tonight. We’re here to discus my rogue brother, the Tesla Roadster….” Congrats to you both. Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of our chemically dependent Caption Contest!

It's Viper Time! Chrysler Going Back On-Line This Week
Atomicalex
In a snub to all the enviro-nuts out there, the new Chrysler started its production startup with the Viper plant. By the end of the month, most of the plants will have ramped back up. This is great news, especially for the Viper crowd. Check out sleevasteve’s hot 2004 Viper!

What's Next: GM's Global Battery Systems Lab
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Just one week after filing Chapter 11, GM unveiled its new $25 million automotive battery laboratory at the Warren Technical Center campus outside Detroit. “The new global GM battery lab will benefit consumers across America by helping us advance the development of battery technology in the United States and put cleaner, more efficient vehicles on the road more quickly and affordably,” said GM CEO Fritz Henderson. “Our new lab improves GM’s competitiveness by speeding the development of our hybrid, plug-in and extended-range electric vehicles.” Full story at Wired

Been Busy
Grassroots Motorsports
Wow, how time flies. One minute we’re preparing for the Rolex 24 At Daytona, and all of a sudden it’s summer. Where does the time go? While my autocross season has started on a slow note, at least I have something new to show for my time. The most recent addition to the fleet is a Porsche 911 Carrera. Anyone else buy anything cool recently?

Shop and Hop

The Real JDM
Props to Mr. Jon Sibal on the assist. This video he found is perhaps an instant classic as far as I’m concerned. Hilarious concept. PS: The title will make sense to my Boston heads out there who can apprecaite the Stop & Shop supermarket refrence.
