His Kung Fu is Strong: Real-Life Street Fighter!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

I saw this posted on Jalopnik late yesterday, but I didn’t get a chance to watch it until it came up in the StreetFire approval queue, and it’s hilarious. Now, when I played Street Fighter, Chun-Lee was my favorite character—probably because I found it easy to kick ass with her—but I wouldn’t want to mess with this dude. To hell with anger management, watch him tear up this doomed car! Bonus points for the Rage Against the Machine soundtrack.

Project 190e 2.3-16 (the Beginning)

By Matt Wellumson

Neuwerks

Well as some of you may know, I have been working with CarDomain for about two years now. I started off as a contributing event photographer for events like NAIAS in Detroit, and within the last year, I began contributing to the blog. Even though I’m a long time user of the site, I had yet to join the community by posting up one of my cars!

This had to change, so I decided my first (and currently only) car to get a profile page on this site, would be my newly purchased 1986 Mercedes 190e 2.3-16.

Caption Contest: This Week's Winner

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Even though I’m not much for art on cars—”Screaming Chicken” excepted—I thought this NOS-purging dragon was pretty dope, and for the most part, you guys agreed. Maybe the fact that the car was so cool was the reason there weren’t a ton of submissions this week? Anyway, there were still pretty of good ones to choose from. So after careful consideration, this week’s winner is EricShoHo who came up with; “There’s another dragon on the back of the car… guess where that one purges from?” Sure it’s juvenile, but so am I. Congrats man! Tune in next week for the next installment of our bar-b-que loving Caption Contest!

F40 FTW!

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

Back in early Nineties I was a valet parking attendant at the Beverly Hills Hotel. It was a pretty cool gig for a car guy and one guest in particular favored me for my ability to navigate his cars over the hotel’s rather nasty speed bumps sans chin spoiler scruffage. Skills I honed in another life as a mini truck owner (don’t laugh, it was the Eighties). Said guest’s name was Lucio Nicolodi and he was a baller of the highest order. His Diablo had plates that read “CUINHLL” but my most hellish experience involved a drive in his other car.

What's Next: AWD Hybrid Ferrari?

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Almost too much to digest here for a Ferrari fan. I mean, all wheel drive and hybrid? The basic idea is that a gas motor will power the rear wheels while an electric motor will drive the front wheels (eliminating the need for the transfer case and driveshafts normally found on AWD cars). Ferrari is seriously looking at a system like this to help them with the new CAFE standards, and may even unveil a concept later this year at the LA Auto Show. Below is a look at Ferrari’s recent European patent filings. More at Jalopnik

Scrapheap, or, You Can’t Save Them All

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

Johnny B. Goode recently found the above photo over at the Stayin’ Safe motorcycle blog, with the author complaining about how much of a hazard such a situation creates for bikers. We agree, and we also mourn the loss of a few good parts in this North Carolinan’s scrap drive. Continue reading at Hemmings

An Afternoon at the Concours

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

After a quick 11-hour hop across the Pacific, I’m back here in the land of small cars and funny soft drinks. I’ll be in Japan for a couple weeks, visiting the in-laws and of course doing some Speedhunting along the way. I’ll try to post as much Japan material as I can, but before that I want to post a few photos from a show I attended right before I left – the Belmont Concours d’Eleganza back home in good old Fresno, California. Mud Truck Donuts Result in Fire

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

lowing donuts in the snow is one of the few things that we dig about the winter. We’re sure these guys were having a blast as well. They were fooling around with their gigantic mud truck until the transmission decided it wanted to become the star of the show.

The impressive nature of the fire got our attention but the complete lack of a plan to put it out kept us riveted. We won’t give away the whole surprise here but it’s safe to say that the six P’s (Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance) were not tended to here.

The action really gets hot at 1:01 into the video.
