Are You Participating in the Hot Rod Power Tour?
Gotadime
There’s been a whole lot of discussion about the HRPT going around these CarDomain halls and I myself am no exception. I registered The Fang Stang several months ago and we’ll be making our way to Somerset, KY this Thursday. Somerset holds the Somernites Cruise every month, in which the entire town shuts down for the 1,000+ cars that cruise in and enjoy the weekend of festivities, all in a friendly and car loving atmosphere. Now that they’ve become a stop on the Hot Rod Power Tour, Somerset is expected to fill up with over 3,000 cars in their biggest show in history and I literally can’t wait to be a part of this amazing event. So, are you participating in the HRPT? If so, make sure that you meet up with The Fang Stang and I in Somerset! Expect a full write-up about the event next weekend.

Can You Identify This Car?
Gotadime
It looks like I really stumped you guys in Round Two, with the 1938 BMW 328. Yes, many good, close guesses were made, but none were on the money. In fact, nobody even went near the BMW name. But then again, only 80 were made and just 10 of those were exported to the USA, so you all are forgiven. Next time that I post up a very difficult car, a hint will be given, such as the year it was made or a random fact about the car. Now for round three: TOPlamborghini suggested that we start using photos of CarDomain member cars, so this time around, the car in the photo does belong to a fellow member. The first person to guess the car correctly based on the pic below is a true car nut! Remember, all you need is the make and model—not the year. Here’s photo three:

Power Tour Day 1: Madison Wisconsin
By Chris Allen
Motorfanatics
Today was day 1 on the 2009 Hot Rod Power Tour. A wet, cold, rainy day 1. Yesterday, I putted through an hour and a half of warm beautiful LA traffic to make it to LAX on time to make my flight to Chicago where my dad was picking me up in the Pacer. Upon waking up this morning, it was a complete 180 from LA, rainy and cold, but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world.

Power Tour 2009: Day One, Madison
By Ryan Brutt

When I got up today, I was filled with excitement. It was Day One for the Power Tour. I was going to see friends I hadn’t seen all year in just a few hours, and I couldn’t wait. I went through everything I needed one more time to ensure that nothing was missing. Nothing was, and I made my way to Madison a little after 11 a.m.
It was an easy ride to Madison, straight up I-90 for about 20 minutes. I wanted to make sure that I would get a good spot. Even with the weather being overcast with light sprinkles, I knew that the Power Tour would be a madhouse.

Power Tour 2009: Day -1
By Ryan Brutt

Getting up today it dawned on me that today I leave for the Hot Rod Power Tour. I had everything ready sitting at the front door, so all I would have to do is grab the bags and get out of here. I made a list of things to bring, especially with camera gear, laptop, cloths, tools, cooler. It all adds up fast, and almost fills the Caprice’s massive trunk.
Saying goodbye to home, I headed to work for the day. Arriving at Car Guy Garage, the place was abuzz. Everyone was excited for me, Jim, President of the company and Tim, the Vice-President were both getting everything in line for me leaving. Jim is a computer genius and had all the “geek” gadgets ready for me. Camera, laptop, website setup, FTP access for this blog to post video (test later). Continue reading after the jump!
Electric Shock: Tesla Model S Exclusive
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
There’s really no other way to say it; the teaser for oncars.com’s three-part Tesla Model S feature is straight-up sexy. Now, I’ve given Tesla plenty of crap over the company’s slow crawl into the auto industry. Between the delays with getting its Roadster to customers, to the opening—and closing—of the Detroit office to the flaky trannys, it hasn’t been an easy road for the Silicon valley start-up. Some in the press even said the Roadster would amount to vaporware. But my gut says the future holds good things for Tesla, and I love styling of the Model S. In my opinion, it kind of looks like a cross between a Maser and the new Jag XF. Here’s hoping it doesn’t wind up as an exotic.
Lamborghini Museum: Part One
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
What better way to open this “Exotics & Luxury” themed month with a detailed view at one of Italy’s most evocative manufacturers. I am of course referring to Lamborghini, a latecomer into the world of supercars with its founder Ferruccio Lamborghini producing his very first car, the 350GT above, in 1964. Lamborghini was a successful businessman who made his wealth building tractors. He quickly began enjoying sports cars of the era, including some Ferraris, one of which was a 250GT. After a recurring clutch problem with his 250GT he took his complaints directly to Enzo Ferrari, who was only twenty minutes down the road in Maranello. Enzo refused to take his complaints seriously, dismissing him as a simple tractor builder. It was at this point that Mr. Lamborghini decided to take matters into his own hands and show the world (especially Enzo himself) that he could build a superior car. He assembled a team of great engineers including Gianpaolo Dallara, designed and built a V12 engine and created his first car. The rest, as the cliché goes, is history.
