World's Fastest Supra Does it Again!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
When I saw Syriyantha Weerasuria’s ’95 Supra at SEMA last year, I was pretty impressed. Not only did he take this baby into Bugatti Veyron territory with his 242 MPH run, but aside from the drag chute mounted on the back, the car looked almost stock. But Weerasuria has been busy since the show in Sin City, and recently took the little Toyota on a blistering 246MPH run down the Texas Mile. Check out the clip below and then watch the in-car footage here.
Can You Identify This Car?
Gotadime
In Round Seven, Bestingeg guessed correctly with “Kia Soul”.
Now, on to round eight. It looks like Robert has been struggling lately, so here’s a hint: it’s not a Hillman Imp. The first person to guess the car correctly based on the pic below is a true car nut! Remember, all you need is the make and model—not the year. Here’s photo eight:

17th Annual Greenwood Car Show on Saturday
Bick66
On Saturday I’ll be attending the 17th Annual Greenwood Car Show in North Seattle on Greenwood Avenue. I’ve been entering my ’66 Impala each year since 2006 and I’m excited to show off all the hard work that went into it over the past year. This will be Jen’s first Greenwood Show and she’s planning to enter her Concord. With 15 city blocks of all types of hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and stock models of all makes, you could imagine why the Greenwood Car Show has always proven to be one of my favorite days of the year. Open House
Grassroots Motorsports
Ever wonder how a car magazine operates? It is housed in a glass tower manned by impeccably dressed execs? Well, in our case, no. We’re just a bunch of dorks in a renovated art deco building located a few minutes from Daytona International Speedway. However, you’re welcome to come tour the facility, as we’re holding an open house this coming Saturday. Details at Grassroots Motorsports

Holiday in Romania: Double-Headed Opel/VW
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
What prompted these guys to weld together a pair of—presumably doomed—vehicles escapes us, but with that double windshield set-up, visibility must be pretty good. And from some of the rides we’ve seen rolling on the streets of former Soviet satellites, this VW Passat/Opel Astra Frankenstein might even be street legal. But that doesn’t mean you’ll catch anyone from CarDomain or StreetFire asking for a ride anytime soon. Just think about what’d happen if you got rear-ended…
Time Attack NSX Runs Tens!?
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
A couple weeks after Billy Johnson and the FX Motorsports NSX decimated the field at the Redline Time Attack at Willow Springs with an unheard of 1:18.555 I spoke with Mike from FX at SpoCom. Above the din of dueling DJs – sorry, I’m old – Mike tells me something about them taking the NSX to the drag strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, rolling the car off the transporter – in full time attack set up, mind you – and clocking a 10-second quarter-mile pass!? I chalk up the miscommunication to the loud music and my bad hearing – again, I’m old – but then I see this video on StreetFire. Hit the jump to see what I’m talking about.

CHVA Car Show Father's Day 2009 Yreka, California
By David Belau
dartslantsix
It’s just a little show in Northern California, but it is hands down my favorite. It’s held every year in Yreka, CA at the fairgrounds on Father’s Day. The Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association (CHVA) puts it on. Showing your car is free as is spectating. They have a pancake breakfast to help pay for the rental of the fairgrounds.
What I love about the show is driving down early in the morning with everyone else. It’s quite a sight to see a row of 10 classic cars cruising down the freeway. The fairgrounds are nice too, with shade and parking on the grass. Pretty much every kind of car shows up- muscle cars, rat rods, street rods, cars from every decade. If you’re nearby, you need to check it out.
This year, my Dart almost didn’t make it. I’d been fighting with a 2bbl conversion on my slant six for almost three months. (You may remember my short write up about projects gone wrong.) Anyway, I gave it the old college try. Hours before I was supposed to load up my family in the Dart for the two hour drive to my parents’ house, I installed a new carb that finally brought the beast back to life. After 15 minutes of tuning and a new air filter, we were ready to go.
My dad is a member of the Rogue Mustangs and Classic Fords Club out of Medford, OR. (He drives a Dart, but they let him in anyway. I hear he got quite the hazing before they let him join!) So, we drive down with them. There were also some Chevy’s that tagged along.
The weather was a little cold and drizzly, but it was still a fun trip. Lots more pics after the jump!

All Four Manufacturers Pull Financial Support for NASCAR Nationwide Series and Truck Series
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Toyota has become the final auto manufacturer to announce that it will pull all financial support from the NASCAR truck series and Nationwide Series.
The company, like the three American brands that have already made similar announcements, will continue to provide some engineering support, but no overt financing. We weren’t too shocked to hear that the truck series is not high on the list of things to support, but the Nationwide series is the last fire line before the sacred cow starts to get burned up.
There have already been rumors floating about multi-car teams getting their shrink on pretty quickly in order to lean their operations out and weather the storm.
Make no mistake, manufacturers still play a massive financial role in the sport, even though the cars that their racers are driving do not appear to be anything made in the last 50 years. Click here to read more.

Junction Produce Nissan President
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Following on from the Junction Produce LS460, it is now time to take a look at one ride that is especially suited for a bit of modern VIP tuning. The PGF50 President is based on the Cima, or Inifiniti Q45 for those more used to the US nomenclature. You would be forgiven for thinking they are the same car, as the differences are very small, most notably the big chrome grille and a more luxurious interior. Continue reading at Speedhunters
