Kenny From The Brack Takes the Pole at X
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Home Depot Center hosted the qualifying today for the X Games Rally Super Special. Because the FMX Super X configuration holds court in the arena until Saturday night Rally qualifying was confined to the outer perimeter tarmac section. To no one’s surprise it was an all STI/Fiesta battle. However what was surprising was that the Fiestas dominated taking three of the top four spots. Indy 500 winner and IRL Champion Kenny Brack put the Olsbergs MSE Ford in the top spot but it was only good enough for 5th place on the grid. Hit the jump to see why and you can also see more pictures as well as our video of Kenny previewing X.

What a Mess: Lebanon Valley Dragway Flooded
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
We had some heavy rains come through here the other day, but nothing compared to those experienced in West Lebanon, where our home track of Lebanon Valley is located. About eight inches of rain overflowed the creek next to the track, leading to as much as eight feet of water pouring over both the dragstrip and the dirt track, causing widespread damage to the facilities and to the trailers and campers parked on the grounds. Those white lines in the picture below? Those are the Jersey barriers that mark the dragstrip. As of now, we know there’s damage to the shutdown area as well as to the area around the fuel depot. More pics and info at the classracer.com forums, and the local TV news also covered the damage.

Car Spotlight: Ferrari 408 Integrale
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Last month there was fervor in the automotive world over the news of Ferrari’s leaked patent application for “Hybrid 4WD” drive-trains. In these documents deposited by Ferrari were various solutions for an all-wheel-drive system for both front-engined and rear-engined models. Essentially the drawings showed in-board or alternatively in-wheel electrical motors that would power the front wheels in aid of traction or to help the car tackle slippery surfaces. Whether this will enter production in the near future or in which models remains to be seen, but what this news did do was ignite a little spark of recollection in a forgotten part of my brain. All About the Isle of Man and the Legendary TT
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
The TT is more than a race, it is a competition that embodies everything about what good racing is. It’s a motorcycle race held on the Isle of Mann, a rocky crag off the coast of Ireland that’s actually part of England, and 224 people have died during the running of the race over the years. It claimed another rider this year.
The race is so deadly because it’s held on public roads which are closed down for the competition. The 37-mile loop is made up of ancient roads that are narrow, bendy, and normally lined with stone walls and other very dangerous stuff.
This year, Los Angeles Times reporter Susan Carpenter was there for the event and wrote a nice piece about the island and the race itself. If you have only heard about this insane, 200-mph dash through the old countryside of Europe, her piece will fill in the details. If you have not heard about it, read this puppy and you’ll be wanting to go watch next year. Click here to read Carpenter’s account of the race.

The BNR32 Skyline GT-R In-Depth
By Steve Neill
Steve Neill
Forget Wikipedia. Forget Encyclopedia Brittanica. Forget your physics professor, and his odd ability to recite every car ever made since 1901. This is going to be an in-your-face and in-depth analysis on one of the most prominent and well known Japanese sports cars of the 1990′s. And unlike my BNR32 GT-R N1 post, this will be more of a test drive, and a heavy duty knowledge dose, if you will. So sit back, put on your glasses, pull out your pipe, stir that tea, and get ready for a thrilling read about what in my opinion is the best driver’s car ever made: The Nissan Skyline BNR32 GT-R.

Angry Goes West: Day 4
By Mike Musto
RideLust.com
We awoke at the hotel in Topeka, KS to a wicked rain storm. Apparently God knew that we needed to be somewhere and decided it was time to water the earth. The Charger’s “don’t see me” cover was completely drenched and it took Johnny and I a good 30 minutes to wring that sucker out and pack it in the trunk. After that we fueled up and hit I-70 west.

Things to do at SEMA, Fireball Style!
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
Ah, the SEMA show. It’s coming up, you know. Well, not too soon, but whatever. It’s like being a kid in a candy store. Lottsa color, cool cars, girls (not any you’d find in a candy store, though) and new tech doodads. Cool. And with all those goodies, there’s only one rule…
DON’T TOUCH. Yeah, don’t touch this, don’t touch that. Lame. I’m gonna touch it, and you’re gonna watch me. Besides, they want you to touch things, right? No, really… ‘cept for the girls. You touch them and they take a finger. But I have a way around that, too. … I have ten fingers. Done.
Too Much of a Bad Thing: $2 Billion More For Clunkers
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
While the Cash for Clunkers program hasn’t been well-received by members of CarDomain, it’s proven incredibly popular with, like, everyone else. Yesterday, we got news the program might run out of money in September, but apparently reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated. This morning the House voted to pump another two billion bucks into Clunkers, which insures we’ll be seeing even more sad pictures of doomed vehicles than we originally thought. Details over at MSNBC.com.

Chris Borrelli
The AV-X10 “Dearborn Doll” is a one off Mustang to be auctioned off at this year’s Experimental Aircraft Association‘s Gathering of the Eagles. This event is held to raise money for scholarships and to aid in the achievement of young aviators. The AV-X10 is a 2010 Ford Mustang sporting a bunch Ford Racing goodies giving it 550 ponies under the hood. The theme of this amazing ride, which is based on the WWII P51 Mustang, is seen inside and out with custom paint, and a custom interior. Via Autoblog
