What Does it Take to Sell a Car These Days?
By Ron Honig
WaytooFurious
I realize that things are tough in the car market, particularly in the area of collector cars. People are really holding onto their cash these days, so what does it take to sell that ‘special’ car? I have come to the conclusion that it takes a lot of effort. To demonstrate this I give you exhibit A, which is this highly modified Charger. Then there is exhibit B, which is the Plymouth Road Runner from the Wrecks to Riches show. I have lost count of the amount of times that I have seen both advertised on E-bay! By the time you read this the Charger sale will have ended but to date there have been no bids. Admittedly the $179,000 asking price is probably scaring away any buyers. The Plymouth on the other hand is priced at a more realistic $69,000. However at that price you could build one yourself, the way you want it. So what do you think, are these collectibles over-priced or are times just to tough to make a sale?

The price has to reflect the market and what is going on with the economy. I think there will always be buyers for these cars, but if they don’t sell after repeatedly listing them, then they are asking too much…right?

lol… I just made a deal last night, to strip the front end of a GTA for some dude, in prep for a new LT1 install in exchange for a ’86 Fiero 2M4 in need of a headgasket and little else. Better yet he has a complete shop in his garage, including a professional compressor and air tools. MWHAHAHaaaaa. That’s Fiero #2, and I decided I’m using neither for parts. Both will be full resto/mods.
