Burly Colt Bucks Off Tranny at 120MPH!

Obviously, this isn’t your average Mitsubishi Colt. The motor’s been completely built, and it’s running—get this—44 PSI of boost. After a couple of dyno runs, the pocket rocket registers a staggering 520HP at the wheels, and while we know the engine probably won’t last long under those conditions, thanks to this clip, we know how long the stock tranny will endure. After the car gets taken for a triple-digit run, the gearbox decides it just isn’t ready for this kind of power and drops straight out of the car. The clutch winds up a couple of lanes away, and everybody involved helpfully points out that the driver doesn’t have to worry about pulling the tranny anymore. Fortunately, none of the angry metal came through the floorboard. Good times.

Message to self….after building a monster engine….build a monster tranny….build a monster drive train….make sure tires can handle added stress….Check CV joints…Better just replace them….
Damn. Nothing like a couple good ole boys to Rape a Colt….At least they had a good attitude about it. I’ll bet its back on the road in no time with a beefed up Trans!

colts can actually be badass. props to this guy he obviously knows what hes doing in the engine department. and hes obviously going to work on the tranny issues. its ignorant to think that this was a waste or its “just a colt”. i knew a 70+ year old with a built 2g in his colt who raced it as often as possible.

It helps to know how to drive a stick if your gonna run an engine like this in your car… hear it over revving? Dumped the clutch and raped the trans, wouldnt have mattered if the trans was built up too. Still would have blown the B**** across the highway.
