This is what your car’s thermostat should not look like. I had a feeling this was the reason why my Mini was running warm. This stuff happens to all of us, right?

ive never had this happen to me but i change mine every outher year while i flush my cooling system. i concider it cheap insurance less then $6 vs $1500 to replace he motor after cooking it down

nope, that never happened to me. Thermostats never were involved with such carnage.

This must be thermostat month. In addition to the wagon, it looks like I have to do the Golf, too.

Thats what happens when you don’t grease your thermostat bearings.

Wish I had taken a picture. Was working on a friend’s 96 neon with heating issues. My findings were a spring, a couple of metal pieces and alot of corrosion! Was not a pretty, looked like the pic.
Put in the new t-stat and all is well.
