Cash For Clunkers Funding May Run Out By September

Everyone is rushing to crush their junk, with 22,782 trade-ins so far. At this rate, the billion dollars set aside to fund this program may run out by September. Here’s another dumpster photo for you guys from Autoblog

I think its interesting how they destroy the vehicles’ engines with Sodium Silicate. Its kind of sad watching a vehicle get destroyed, and this video shows a car that looks like its worth more than $4500 to me.

The Government’s not going to continue funding this indefinitely, its unaffordable as a permanent program. Might be extended a little but that’ll be it.

If the economy really starts showing improvement and/or car sales become more robust, that will end the program sooner by means of discontinuation of funds.

When the dust settles, yeah a bunch of SUVs and guzzlers lacking in historical significance will be recycled. The Earth won’t be measurably closer to climatic disaster than it would have been without the program, yada yada.

no big deal, just politicians trying to score some points, dealerships trying to sell some cars and consumers trying to save some money on their new car purchases.
