Ghost-Riding While Doing Donuts?
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Watching this car turn donuts with no one behind the wheel was really making me cringe. For a couple of seconds, it looks like the driver might not be able to get back in the car, but fortunately, after a couple of attempts, he’s able to do it. Yikes.

Have a Seat!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Sport bikes aren’t known for their comfort, but that doesn’t mean you have to be all cramped to enjoy their power and agility. Just take a look at one industrious biker did to his Kawasaki Ninja! While I think that the wide cushion might make the foot controls a little more difficult to reach, there’s little doubt this machine would be a significantly more comfortable on the freeway. Of course, that’s given that riding something that looks this silly wouldn’t make you physically ill. via Top Speed.

Video of Masa's Crash in Hungary
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
During qualifying for the Hungarian Gran Prix on Saturday, Ferrari driver Felipe Masa was struck in the head by a spring that came loose from another car. The impact caused him to loose consciousness, and his car eventually left the track and crashed into a tire barrier. While surgery to repair two skull fractures was successful, it’s unclear whether Masa will be able to race again. Given that this incident comes just a week after driver Henry Surtees was killed after being struck by a tire during a Formula Two race, I have to wonder if we’re going to start seeing closed cockpits in F1. There are a bunch of crashes in the clip below, but Masa’s is the first one. Let’s hope he makes a full recovery.

This is from an old post on 6speedonline.com. Luckily nobody was hurt (besides the insurance company who apparently is suing Ferrari for a quarter mill over it).

1962 LaBoa MKII Corvair Special on eBay
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
This week’s eBay Pick is a killer little one-off road racing car from 1962. Creativity was the word back then and this Corvair powered, tube chassis, stressed skin, Lotus lookalike is a great example of that.
The seller is honest in saying that the car did not have a glorious history of race wins or significant performance records, but who the hell cares. Buying this car and racing it in vintage competitons, open track days, and hill climbs would be hella fun.
The car was commissioned by a man in Ohio back in 1962 who had a local machine shop construct the car. The original owner died some time ago and the car changed hands a few times and was actually street driven for many years.
It was constructed with the ability to swallow any number of engines and apparently the owner settled on Corvair power because he had connections with a Chevy dealer and had an ownership stake in a local used car lot. This thing is beyond cool. Click here to see the auction!

AWD Mini
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
I just got a link from a friend who pointed out this AWD Mini project at Super Fast Mini’s. Inside the Mini community it is very popular to enhance the performance of the car with Honda parts. It is no different with this Mini. They started with a bare shell and went to work with the custom fabrication and placing of the AWD system. On the outside we see wider fenders to accommodate the larger wheels and extra sticky tires. Continue reading at Speedhunters

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: the 1971-72 GMC Sprint SP
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome back to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the notion of what a muscle car is, and to think outside the box while doing so. It has been several weeks since the last Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot feature, and now that LeMons is done, I now have time to re-introduce you to some obscure Muscle you may have never thought of. This time I’ve uncovered a car based pickup, that could be ordered with a Special Performance package, that you could get with a 350, 396, or a 454 Cu In V8. No, it’s not the Chevrolet El Camino SS, but it’s corporate cousin, the GMC Sprint SP.

Rust in Silence
By Alex Vickers
Katakuna
This edition of “Rust in Silence” features a rarity among enthusiast cars: my grandmother’s 1973 Mercury Capri. When her oldest son, Charlie, died of skin cancer in 1981, my late grandfather flew out to California to bring back his body, both his cars (one of which I have now) and the rest of his things. My grandparents each took one car and proceeded to drive them. My grandmother never took care of the Capri, which is apparent when you see how far it has deteriorated. Wrecked, rotted, rusted through, interior torn to shreds, and for the last fifteen years it has been her ghetto storage unit. The engine turns over, yet the transmission has literally rusted off. The Capri has become a worthless, rusty turd. I’m sorry to say that two weeks ago it was towed to the local scrapyard to be crushed. Very few cars ever come into her possession and come out alive, this one never had a chance. Sorry potential buyers, it’s too late.

Think Pink?
Grassroots Motorsports
Pink is probably one of the most polarizing colors in motorsports, and Donna Mae Mims campaigned this Bugeye Sprite back in the day. We recently shot the car for a future feature. So, would you race a pink car?
