Video: In-Car Camera of a 218-MPH Pass at Bonneville

BangShift.com
In 2008, Bonneville racer Ed Goodrich was a huge help to the BangShift.com race team. After our race Camaro’s front air dam was protested, we drove 180 miles to Ed’s home in Idaho, took the rubber nose off another Camaro he had in stock, installed it on our car, and reset the record that had been questioned.
This year, we’ve been trying to repay the favor by helping Ed out any way we can. His ’79 Camaro races in A/Classic Gas Coupe, and he has an injected 496 under the hood that should work well with his new modifications for this year, including an air dam, Detroit Locker, and lowering the car 2 inches.
The record Ed is going for is 237 mph, though he’ll be happy with a personal best of 225. So far he’s only run tuning passes to get comfortable with the car. The best of those so far has been 218 mph. This is an in-car view of that pass on Sunday at Speed Week 2009.
Watch it, then look for more reports on Ed’s success in upcoming BangShift.com Speed Week coverage.
