Craigslist Find: MR2 F430 Scuderia Project

With the exception of the Shelby Cobra—which was kind of like a kit car anyway—replicas have never really appealed to me. The way I see it, the cool factor of driving something like a Lamborghini or a Ferrari is going to be completely lost when you have to tell people it isn’t real, and most gearheads are going to be able to spot a fake from 50 blogs away. So I was totally ready to mock this F430 Scuderia Project—until I figured out that the dude wasn’t using a kit, but making the molds and panels himself. That’s not to say I think this looks like an F430—the proportions are completely off—and even if it did, the MR2′s engine note would give it away immediately. But there was obviously a lot of work put in here, and the odds that the owner will be able to find a buyer who has the fabrication skills necessary to finish this are about as good as his being able to afford an actual Cavallino. well im not a big fan of kit cars or knock off body kits but some MR2′s I’ve seen have been done very well with Fuax Ferrari Kits. Although I don’t like the idea it appears this guy has put alot of effort into it and needless to say the flushed Doors and rear Quarter Panel look very nicely done in. As to say theres not gaps or Mismatched seems. Again not a big fan but kudos for the hard work, i would definitely like to see this car completed.

Its a cool idea but its to early to say if I like it a 100% yet. I would have to see it completed with nice wheels, paint etc. Im sure when its done it will be a nice unique one of a kind car. Nice work so far.

I really think that the idea is a good one but it just wasn’t executed very well. If you search for “MR2″ on google images some of the results will be pictures of MR2′s converted into Ferraris (like the F360). One of the ones I found looked really good. It’s obvious to car guys that it’s not a real Ferrari but it still looks good. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for this one on craig’s list. I just don’t see it ever looking good.

what better to do than to make a MR2 look like a ferrari then make it fast as hell n beat a few rich-asses ferrari and den pop the engine cover and show that it is a toyota motor……

I love it. Widen that stance with wheels and tires that meet the bodywork and it will be awesome. You’re right, it won’t sound like a ferrari but its not impossible to make an MR2 stupid fast either.

That takes alot of skill and time, I think its cool. Ya the proportion is a little off but still, the ass looks like a ferrari to me. If you hate it its probably because you do that.

who gives i wish i cud buy a scrap 4 door f150 and show lincoln wut a true blackwood or mark lt shud be using the same parts just adapting and tweaking…..apparently this is a project not something to show off at a ferrari car show or anything…and besides if he changed the tailight design it wudnt look like a ferrari just a fast looking car…stop hating ppl

i actually like the idea its obviousley a project and the guy must love the Ferrari styleings but not the price the only thing i see i dont like about it is how do you open the doors! but other than that i like it its creative its odd its custom! if you dont like it just dont look !

its alot of work for not that glorious of a result, the rear end looks bitchin, but its still an old import to match up with an exotic rear end….like an ugly asian chick with the booty of a black woman.

I can cope with conversions, but trying to take a car’s whole(I guess half in this situation) identity and put it on a car that doesn’t and will never live up to what a Ferrari is. In my opinion it is a waste. Make your own style or use something from another Toyota don’t steal a design from another car especially a Ferrari, like I said before cut and paste should not be a car mod.
