Vorsteiner E92 M3 vs. Ventross IS-F

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

The BMW E92 M3 and the Lexus IS-F are both shining examples of sports-minded luxury cars. They both project an image of luxury and refinement, combined with engine response and handling suitable for the racetrack.

Not too long ago, I did a shoot with an E92 M3 and an IS-F that were both outfitted with a plethora of aftermarket parts from a luxury sports brand called Vorsteiner. When I was first introduced to the team over at Vorsteiner, it was to photograph their Porsche V-GT project for Modified Luxury and Exotics Magazine back in 2007. Corvette Summer

By Tony Castellano

Tcassa

Well, actually it’s winter now in Oz, but with the temp in the mid 20s (that’s Celsius), it’s hardly a winter! So, my folks made their way down to view some Vettes by the beach, and going by their pics, it looked like a good turnout. And no, your eyes arne’t playing tricks, most were right hand drive. Enjoy the pics, with plenty more after the jump.

Automotive Social Network Hell

By Fireball Tim

Movie Car Design Master

Or heaven as the case may be….

I was talking with my super cool Webguy, Don Burnside, the other day, mentioning how I spend a lot of time talking with people online. Hundreds actually. And when you deal with that many people, things have to go easy. Really easy.

But, some of the ASN’s (Automotive Social Networks) suck bigtime. (Check Don out btw, he’s awesome if you need a lightning fast and easy website!) It can be frustrating to find a network that is cool, and with cool cars, …and is USER FRIENDLY. The last thing you need is to see a really sweet ride and want to make a really sweet comment …only to have the network do a brain fart.

Yea, I know it’s a complex concern, but there IS an answer…

I stick with the ones that work good and fast, are designed well so that I can see the bitchin’ machines easily, and especially the ones where the people have good attitudes. My favorites are,… the newbie Fueltopia in Europe, StreetFire and Facebook. And of course, right smack here at CarDomain. (Come by and check out the others, though.)

Fueltopia is a great group of folks that love cars and causin’ a wee bit of trouble across the pond. Some seriously cool rides, but a great interface that’s easy and fun to use. Streetfire has the best videos on the web, including crashes and all around stupid car tricks and Facebook is just plain easy to use and to create a page. For yourself or even for your car! And that’s Cool.

Sharing your rides is the culture. People love to be inspired by car coolness, which is a big reason why I like meeting people and experiencing their passions. get your ride online and show it to the world. It’s what we do.

Ever Found "Your" Car in the Junkyard?

By Chris Bicknell

Bick66

For those of us who own and work on cars built in the last couple of decades, the question may not seem so meaningful. But when your pride and joy falls a little further back, it’s a rare occurrence to find your car still rusting peacefully at the local junkyard. This weekend, Jen and I were both completely blown away by the inventory at All American Classics, but when I stumbled upon not one but four 1966 Impalas, including this yellow 327 Super Sport, I totally lost it. What amazed me even more was the incredible amount of good useable parts that remained on these cars–I wanted to take everything, and I guess now I understand a little better why the shelves in our garage are lined with enough Ford Escort parts to build a whole ‘nother one of Jen’s cars. Luckily, I’d left my credit card at home–but I still left with a trunk full of really cool stuff and I’m sure it won’t be long before I find myself going back for more.

How about you–ever found your rare or classic car at the junkyard?

2009 Woodward Dream Cruise

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Since it has been happening for 15 years straight, nearly every car guy knows about the Woodward Dream Cruise, even if they have not been there. The massive cruise scene held on the Detroit area’s legendary Woodward Avenue brings tens of thousands of cars and even more people into nine local cities: Berkley, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac, and Royal Oak.

For 2009, it turned out that even troubles with the auto makers and heavy unemployment could not slow down this massive show, which is said to be the largest singe-day car event in the world.

BangShift.com had Mike “The Photo Guy” Yoksich on the scene at Woodward. Click here for his gallery of nearly 200 photos.

The World's Fastest S13

Car Culture At Large

As a Bonneville newbie, one item that’s become clear to me is that the chassis and engine selection for a land speed record car are two very separate and distinct choices for any car builder. Most competitors combine the engine and the chassis in order to enter what appears to be hundreds of different classes. Often a builder will try and find an overlooked class, build a special car and go for the record. People may even show up at Bonneville with more than one engine in order to set multiple records with one chassis. Continue reading at Speedhunters

What Would You Do With a Belvedereamino?

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

In response to a recent Four-Links link to a story on launching a Plymouth from the deck of the USS Enterprise, reader Steve Donohoe of Port Clinton, Ohio, told us the Plymouth was definitely a 1963 Plymouth Savoy. How did he know for sure? He himself owns a 1963 Plymouth, though not one you see everyday.

Steve said he first doodled the design of a Plymouth sedan pickup in high school notebooks in 1968, then bought a 1963 Plymouth Belvedere four-door sedan in 1971 and went through with the chop in 1980. He fashioned the tonneau cover out of two Belvedere trunk lids, and swapped out the original poly-head 318 and manual transmission for an LA-series 318 with a push-button TorqueFlyte. He then managed to get Michigan to re-title the cruck as a “1963 Plymouth Pickup.”

Time’s taken its toll on the Plymouth, and Steve said he recently lost his storage for it, so now comes the decision time – to restore and keep, or to attempt to sell? What would you do? See the rest of the pics at Hemmings

Toyota Prius Under Attack in Seattle

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This happened just a mile or two from CarDomain World Headquarters, but honestly, we had nothing to do with it. Perps driving “a loud throaty-sounding SUV” smashed in the windshields of several Priuses in the Ballard neighborhood on Saturday. Story at My Ballard.

Galpin Auto Sports Air Force Challenger at Seattle Formula D

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

We posted pics of this car back in June, but when it popped up at Seattle Formula D, I thought it was worth a quick video. The car got some pretty strongly worded comments when we posted the video on StreetFire last week, including this from 2carlos8

Ok, I am a Sgt in the US Air Force, and I cant watch this without getting pissed! We have to hagle with leadership for supplies and equipment but yet can afford to build MONSTROSITIES like this. as you can see from my profile pic I own a SRT8 Chally and cant figure out why they’d jack-up something that was already stunning in its own right. That money could have been spent on my boys in the sandpit!

So, do you think the Air Force should have commissioned this car?

Behind the Scenes with Fireball at Cinema Vehicles

By Fireball Tim

Movie Car Design Master

I get a lot of questions about what I do. And, since I do a lot of things, sometimes I forget even myself! But, between the TV shows, traveling and other nonsense, I work with Cinema Vehicles Services as Chief Designer. And what does that entail? Just doin’ cool things to cars! …And I get to hang out with gorgeous women with names like Eleanor, so that’s a plus. Cha. (Don’t forget to friend us up on Facebook, too!)

Top Secret, so don’t show this to anyone… I MEAN IT!
