We Dig Northwest Style!
Antonio Alvendia
I’m still sorting through all the photos I took during my trip to Seattle… believe me, there were A LOT. However, I thought I’d just take a brief detour from the Formula D action to showcase some of the cars I saw at the event, which really clue you in on how dope the Pacific Northwest cars are. I just don’t understand how people can sleep on the scene up there so much! All the big car magazines and media sites seem to only focus on Southern Cali, but those of us who have traveled all over the world can tell you that the Northwest has style!!! Tons of it. Let’s take a look! Continue reading and view more photos on MotorMavens

Unbelievably Awesome Junk At All American Classics!
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
All American Classics in Vancouver, WA, is the kind of junkyard that you can absolutely lose yourself in. I’m not so much talking about the sprawling acreage or the huge number of cars here. It’s more about the kid-in-a-candy-store feel that you get from a yard where each rusting hulk you find is more cool than the last. Read more…

Goodnight Nisei Week Showoff, There Will be no Encore
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Import Showoff is arguably the OG import car show, precluded only by the Nisei Cruise of the late Eighties and early Nineties in LA’s Little Tokyo District. And for Showoff architect Ken Miyoshi it only made sense to bring his car show to the Nisei Week Japanese Festival a few years ago as the Nisei Week Showoff thus reuniting real import car flava with the Nisei Festival.
Back in the day the car quality at Import Showoff was second to none. The fake wheel and knock-off body kit crowd needed not apply. The shows were all about the cars. But in ’98 Hot Import Nights seamlessly blended the club kids with the car clubs proving it’s not all about the cars. Yet for some of us it was always all about the cars. While Ken may have diluted his original recipe with a few grains of rice over the years the Nisei Showoff has basically maintained the quality of one of Mr. Miyoshi’s old school Mainstream Productions. And one recent trend Nisei showcases is the resurgent Honda movement. For example, the engine bays of these Civics feature nothing fast nor furious, just shaved and filled sheet metal, tucked wire harnesses and built motors. Hit the jump to see more random observations from what might have possibly been the final Nisei Showoff. Say it ain’t so, Ken!

Midlife Crisis

There are tons of great ride pages on CarDomain, but not many folks tell a story as well as Chris. He starts out his 2005 Ford Mustang ride page with this disclaimer:
I have no clue when it comes to showing a car, I have never entered a car show and if I did I wouldnt go overboard to prepare. I wash my car with a bristle brush whenever I take it to the track, mostly to wash brake dust and crap off it from the last outing. I drive the thing to the limits and have a tendency to overheat the motor and brakes. If it blows up it blows up and is just a sign I need to spend some money on a stroker kit.. either way shit happens in racing and if you dont wanted it scratched, smashed, blown up, or destroyed dont take it to the track. Read on and enjoy.

Photos From DUB Chicago Live!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
The DUB Tour rolled into the Windy City over the weekend, and we’ve got tons of photos from the show floor. Personally, I was a little surprised to see an original Mini amid the sea of high-risers and exotics, but I think the owners did a bang-up job with the micro machine. So what if the wheels are about as big as dinner plates? And while we’ve heard rumblings that color-matched wheels are out, there were plenty in the house at the Chicago stop. For a complete wrap-up of the show and more than 300 photos of everything on display, head over to our events section.

Has the Artsy Drift Montage Jumped the Shark?
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Before I begin you should know that as the executive editor of StreetFire.net I love me some drift montage videos. And it should be noted that I did not ask the question presented in the title of this entry – believe it not, it was one of the filmmakers who produced these videos. I will protect his identity to spare him from the potential of a beat down with a sock full of P2 cards, some pursuit bars from a fixie, or whatever it is these artistic types use to submit beat downs.
With all of this in mind allow me to present the first (and potentially only) StreetFire Fab Friday Formula D Film Festival. I have three short form videos all from the some of the biggest names in drift video filmmaking (these guys are bigger than ever, its the monitors that got smaller!). All were shot at the latest FD Seattle stop. Our first submission is from Will “Cheesecake” Roegge, arguably the Quentin T of this genre. He also gets to go first because we worked together and he knows where the bodies are buried. Hit the jump to see a couple more deep and moody clips from FD Seattle and vote for your favorite in the comments. Or you can just tell us you hate these kinds of videos.

Mr. Angry is Still Rolling: Now at Pebble Beach
By Mike Musto
RideLust.com
As most of you know I have been on cross country road trip over the last three weeks. I left from Queens, New York on July 25th and drove across this great nation to end up in Monterey, California for the Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach. Blogging has been a wee bit difficult, so I apologize for that, but hey… in less than three weeks I’ve managed to rack up more than 5,000 miles on a 41 year old muscle car with no A/C. That in-and-of itself is no small feat.
