This Evo X Punches Time in the Face
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
The AMS Performance Evo is the ass kicker of you. It literally has only three actual events under its belt in its current guise. And somehow the AMS crew has been able to coax big numbers from the new 4B11 despite the lack of a G, a 6, or a 3 in the engine designation. Not only is the car stupid fast but AMS has plans in place for more power and even better aero with the aid of a flat bottom floor that has yet to be installed. Have Fun In Our Garage
Grassroots Motorsports
I’m not much of a gadget nerd, but on the other hand I’d rather not get too sweaty if I don’t have to. I bought a random orbital buffer from one of the big box stores years ago, and it has worked okay. The other day I got to use Griot’s new professional-grade random orbital. Ah, how the right tool makes any task just a bit easier. (And, yes, that is an Electron Blue Civic Si.)

July Castrol GTX Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Congrats to Joe, the the latest winner of our “Castrol GTX How Do You Keep Your Car So Clean?” contest! Here’s what he had to say about his ride:
This is my 1978 Camaro Z/28. Its a clean slick ride inside and out with fresh paint and a new interior so needless to say it deserves a clean slick motor oil. What motor oil is clean and slick enough you ask? Two words, Castrol GTX.
If you haven’t already entered the contest, do it now! It’s easy and free and you could win up to $1,000.

Video: In-Car Camera of a 218-MPH Pass at Bonneville
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
In 2008, Bonneville racer Ed Goodrich was a huge help to the BangShift.com race team. After our race Camaro’s front air dam was protested, we drove 180 miles to Ed’s home in Idaho, took the rubber nose off another Camaro he had in stock, installed it on our car, and reset the record that had been questioned.
This year, we’ve been trying to repay the favor by helping Ed out any way we can. His ’79 Camaro races in A/Classic Gas Coupe, and he has an injected 496 under the hood that should work well with his new modifications for this year, including an air dam, Detroit Locker, and lowering the car 2 inches.
The record Ed is going for is 237 mph, though he’ll be happy with a personal best of 225. So far he’s only run tuning passes to get comfortable with the car. The best of those so far has been 218 mph. This is an in-car view of that pass on Sunday at Speed Week 2009.
Watch it, then look for more reports on Ed’s success in upcoming BangShift.com Speed Week coverage.
A Fine Day at the 2009 Sports and Exotic Car Show
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
We’re finding that Saratoga Springs, New York, is a rather ideal location for our annual Sports and Exotic Car Show, which we put on this past Saturday on the grounds of the Saratoga Auto Museum. This year, we utilized the big field between the museum and the nearby Gideon Putnam Hotel, and we were rewarded with an excellent turnout of some magnificent cars. As the featured marque, Alfa Romeos came out in force, but we also had representation from about a dozen other marques, including Allard, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Saab, Triumph, MG, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Datsun, Lotus and even a DAF. Look for full coverage of the show in the November 2009 issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car. See more pics at Hemmings

2009 Bonneville Speed Week: Day One
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
The Japanese have an expression “it is better to travel hopefully than to arrive”. In my case the trip to the Salt Flats in the North West corner of Utah was very much in the travelling hopefully category…………..but as if to prove the rule by exception, arrival has been better than the journey.
Set up day concluded with a show of cars in the parking lot of Wendover’s Nugget Casino and of course there is another look at the Plymouth with the Propane pipes, little things in my case………….. Continue reading at Speedhunters

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: the 1955 to 58 Chevrolet Cameo Pickup
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the notion of what a muscle car is, and to discover hidden treasures while doing so. The convergence of the Pickup Truck and the Passenger car started during the booming years of the mid 50′s. At one time, cars and trucks used to share the same chassis, sheet metal, and interiors. But it was one Chuck Jordan, who later rose to become head of Chevrolet Styling, that started drawing stylized pickup trucks after he returned to GM after his stint in the U.S. Air Force. The design for a stylish, top of the line truck, met little resistance from corporate management. With a few changes suggested by engineering, a new type of Pickup Truck emerged from GM. Introducing the Chevrolet Cameo Pickup.

The Vintage Racers of Racecraft
Antonio Alvendia
I was up in Seattle earlier this year and took the opportunity to stop by Racecraft, one of the northwest’s premier vintage race shops. When I arrived, the men behind the operation were wrenching hard on a pair of BMW 2002 track bandits, each worth over six figures. But founder Jim Froula and his partner Terry Forland are not only immensely skilled at making 30-year-old cars go fast, they also don helmet and glove to get behind the wheel of their own old school race cars.
