Formula Drifting in Seattle

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

Round Five of the 2009 Formula Drift series at Seattle’s Evergreen Raceway is a done deal. There were some upsets, carnage, a great crowd, the sweet smelling Falken girls (don’t ask how I know this) and most important of all, no rain. In practice before the event even began Dai Yoshihara hit the wall. Hard. Hard enough to totally total his discount Tire IS350. Hit the jump to see who won as well more news from Seattle.

X-Rated Rally Games

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

The X Games Rally Super Special is history. Yeah, we know, this is not “real” rally racing or even a super special in its purest form. And its true that some of the “qualivited” action sports crossover competitors may not turn times as quick as many of the real pro ‘shoes, but it is X-citing and its good to see any kind of motorsport huck itself into the mainstream spotlight. Although this year’s super special was rather anti-climactic compared to the thrills and spills of the first four years that rally’s been at X. Make like Travis Pastrana here and hit the jump to see our StreetFire.net video coverage and more pictures and stories from X.

Formula Drift Seattle Qualifying Videos

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

Formula Drift’s Round Five has officially kicked off at Seattle’s Evergreen Raceway. Ryan Tuerck rode the banks of the bullring with greater speed and angle than the rest of the field to put him in the number one qualifying spot. Other big news surrounded the protest of Tanner Foust’s tC that was broken by our boys at Wrecked Magazine. Hit the jump to see the complete list of qualifying results with video! And we’ll be back with more from tomorrow’s main event at Evergreen including more video coverage.

Stop on Red Week? Seriously?

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

It’s bad enough that we need legislation banning things like texting and talking on the phone while driving, but people seriously need to be reminded to stop at red lights? What the hell is the problem here? Do Americans just spend so much time in their cars that we just think they’re big living rooms that happen to move around? What’s next, “Do Not Use Your Hair Dryer in the Shower Week?” Damn, people are dumb. Head over to MSNBC for all the details on this groundbreaking program.

Car Culture At Large

There’s been a lot of business to take care of at our office in Vancouver for the past few months, so it’s been a little while since I’ve been in the field with a camera. But that all changed today, as we just shot at two rather different automotive scenarios, each within a few miles of one another. It all started a week or so ago, when John Naderi from Streetfire.net invited us to a shoot he and Will Roegge were conducting just down the road from Evergreen Speedway in the Seattle area. Texas Shop Building V6 Camaro to Kick Nissan GT-R Ass

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

East Texas Muscle Cars, a Texas hot rod shop, has announced its intentions to build a 2010 V6 Camaro capable of running with and beating the vaunted Nissan GT-R on the Nurburging in Germany. The GT-R has been the apple of every clean-hands magazine and website since it first came to the US, and the car has backed up a lot of its heady performance claims by laying down crazy numbers on road courses (especially the Green Hell) across the world. The Nissan has whopped on stuff way out of its price range. Frankly, we’re pretty sick of hearing about it.

This Camaro, equipped with the Direct Injection V6 that makes a healthy 300hp stock, will be receiving several upgrades, the most important of which will be a turbocharger. Fiddling with these DI engines is a new frontier of hot rodding, so we’re interested to see how this whole thing works out. The company claims it’s going to ship the Camaro over to Germany with a GT-R to back up its claims once the project is finished. This could be totally awesome as the Camaro is sure to be seen as an epic underdog in this match up. Edmunds broke the story and has many more details here.

Decotora Style x Lamborghini Mucielago? WTF?

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

Sometimes I come across things that leave me speechless. I really don’t know what to say about this. But I’ll try… I’ve started this post with the best picture of the car. The 16 year-old in me actually really loves this picture, and I could even say this is pretty bad ass to do on a Lamborghini—despite seeing similar attempts on Honda Civics for the past decade that I’d like to forget. The rear diffuser fin lights are actually pretty damn cool, if nothing else. If the car was all normal and just those fins were illuminated I’d give it a 100% WIN. But it goes downhill from here.
