MX-5 Superlight Concept

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

With fall fast approaching, that means it’s time to once again start looking towards the auto show season and the concept cars that come with it. One of the concepts that’s already been revealed is the Mazda MX-5 superlight concept for the Frankfurt Show. As it’s name suggests, this car takes the standard MX-5 and strips away “excess” weight , doing away with things like a windshield or top. The resulting car is a unique creation that’s one my favorite concept cars in recent memory – the raw spirit of the MX-5 turned up to eleven. Hopefully it comes with a pair of leather driving gloves and some goggles.

Might be even cooler if they did away with the passengers seat and had a cover there to streamline the car. I really like the way they added a rear view mirror coming up out of the dash.

This is a car that will do a lot for Mazda if they make it at least in limited production numbers just for track use, this baby will make SCCA purists come in their pants LOL. What a great weekend racer, RedEnvy if they make a track only car, not intended for street use who needs a windshield just for the thrill of it I could care less it makes the car that much unique as a driving experience. There is a website collecting feedback and comments to be forwarded to Mazda and push for this baby to be made Just go to You tube type mx5 Superlight fastlane daily.

I love this. Even the doorhandles are shaved. I agree about your sentiment on the driving gloves.
