Ok MiamiMiataGroup yes ford learned how to make a decent 4 banger finaly most american car companys have had a lot of trouble in this department heck i drive a 95 saturn and it is hit or miss with this 4banger also i lucked out and yes ford had saved mazda from financial ruin numorous times as Chris had said hell if i didnt drive a saturn id drive a mazda speed 3 hell ya now back to what the blog is about I am thrilled to see ford finaly making a DI turbo 4 cylinder engine its been a long time coming now lets all hope they actual build up the bottom end so at 80,000 the engine doesnt blow up with only a few psi of boost at cruising speed my roomate made this mistake with a 240 sx with an sr20 and garret turbo oops go ford show the other american automakers what they need to do to get back in to the game. and yes i seem to be rambling lived at work for 2 days with little sleep.

Where do you get off calling me “as dumb as a rock”. This blog is for sharing and debating the automotive industry and the custom car scene. You are talking about MAZDA this article is about Ford’s new Ecoboost engine. I am always up to debate over automotive knowledge, but I despise personal remarks, no one said anything about you or your beloved MAZDA. And you defeat what you say, and I quote, “yes ford is a great car company indeed” then you go about saying how bad the quality of Ford’s vehicles are.
-I stand by what I say, if you have a problem with Ford I really don’t care, all I know is that I think and knnow Ford is the best automotive manufacturer in the world, and that will never..ever change. I am finished.

I had a 1980 cobra with a turbo 2.3 and it made more power than the smoged to death V8 of the same year. Thre was also the 1979 turbo mustang pace car and the SVO. At the time people would not gave them a chance. They were great cars for the time but were not excepted. hopefuly the public is ready for them as the new direct injection turbos show much more promise that the early carberated turbos. and don`t forget the t-bird turbo coupe showed that a turbo 4 could get a larger car up and running prety quick as well.

Yeah, I know when turbo’s first came out, my point was that almost every other auto maker has been using then and no one cars, but Ford starts throwing them in cars and then call it a witty name and everyone get excited and says that Ford is going to save the environment with thier fuel efficient and powerful engines. I’ve done my research sir. My point wasn’t about turbos or direct injection, it was that everyone else has been using these technologies for quite some time, yet Ford is the last to jump on the bandwagon.

You make me laugh LOL. WOW you are dumb as a rock do I need to say 90′s for you to understand when I am talking about Mazda cars that were made in the 90′s only, yes ford is a great car company indeed. Hello! time to weak up LOL unless you love receiving factory recalls envelopes every year, visiting your local dealer on occasion, they hold the world record for manufacturer recalls and defects, ford Windstar, Freestyle, Explorer and Taurus. Ford home of the American Barbecue the only cars that don’t need matches to ignite and catch fire. LOL The only thing successful out of the ford line up is the Mustang and Crown Victoria everything else is a fire hazard. Fordrulesall how funny LOL the biggest lie I ever saw. Let me make a final correction (Toyota rules all) the biggest car manufacturer period. Ford was a player years ago but after selling Jaguar, Land rover and Mazda ford doesn’t stand a chance.

I didn’t mention anything about the ’60′s and you didn’t mention anything about the ’90′s.
And I don’t know what you keep saying about Mazda no one mentioned Mazda, the topic(and what I have been talking about) is that Ford is making good engines for their vehicles. If anybody has a problem with Ford being a great car company then that’s their problem.

First off I was not talking about the 60′s or 70′s I mentioned 90′s and up thanks for mentioning all those American turbo cars that got nowhere and accomplish nothing, does that really count? where are those cars today if they were so good? FORD never made a quality 4 cylinder car or turbo car in the 90′s they owe this late knowledge of small engines and turbochargers to the engineers at Mazda I see a perfect pattern of 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 emerging don’t you? The 2.0 was used first in the Mazda 626 in the early 90′s. How can you explain the Mazda 3 with 2.0 and 2.3 L few years later the fusion comes around with same base engine 2.3 L and a 3.5 in the CX-9 now in the Edge SUV? LOL

First off I did’t say anything at all about Mazda. If you would actually take your time and read through my comment. I state that Ford will now have great engines to stop under powering vehicles. And it is true about the gas crisis in the 70′s a great deal of manufacturers turned to turbo charging but it really didn’t help because of the lack of technology, now Ford has better technology and can now acheive their goal of performance and MPG’s. I am happy for Ford they are moviung along greatly and I think they aren’t LUCKY as they have been dubbed, they are a smart automotive business.
-MiamiMiataGroup, here is some history with Ford and Mazda. Ford saved Mazda in ’79 with a 7% stake later growing to a 33.9% stake by 1997(which saved Mazda again from what is known as the Asian financial crisis), Then when the current recession hit Ford did the smart thing and sold back 20% of Mazda. So really without Ford your beloved Miata would probably have never been around.
-And Planeboy18, nobody said turbo charging was new it actually came about in the 1930′s,the first turbo charged vehicle was the “Schweizer Maschinenfabrik Saurer” (Swiss Machine Works Saurer) in 1938 then in 1962 GM’s A-body Oldsmobile Cutlass Jetfire and Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder were the first turbo production automobiles. Next time do your research.

Chris you know darn well that Ford would be history if it wasn’t for their partnership with Mazda and the emergency hire of Alan Mullaly from Boeing. This engine technology was picked up from Mazda do some research and don’t make a fool of yourself, all this engines 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 were first used by Mazda in the Miata, MX-3, 626 and Protege same goes for turbo engines Mazda was there way first than ford, give Mazda the respect they deserve they are the heroes making the only rotary engine in the world when nobody dares to even try it, but that is not all they make the best selling two seater sports car in the world Mx-5 Miata the only retractable hardtop convertible that doesn’t use trunk space 20 years of a strong and fun Miata, How many others have failed trying to compete Honda del sol, S-200, Solstice, Sky even the BMW Z3 and Benz SLK had to move up market and away from the Miata foot print to stay alive. They made the first Turbocharged SUV CX-7. Mazda Lesson Ended. Peace.
