Cop Dumps Bike During Agility Competition

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

I’ve always thought it’d be fun to be a motorcycle cop. What could be more fun than ripping through traffic with everyone getting out of your way? It’d be like a dream! Of course, the other side of the coin is that I’ve never been able to talk my way out of a ticket from one of these officers, so I’m not particularly fond of seeing them on patrol. Anyway, I was equally impressed and amused by this clip of a cop dumping his bike during an agility competition. You have to have serious skills to whip one of those behemoths around the way he’s doing it in this video, and as for watching him take a itty-bitty spill? Well…

Domino's Deep Dish Kouki S14

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

Not too long ago, I scheduled a rendezvous with Mike Paganik, the owner of this pristine 1996 240sx. Mike, who happens to be a friend who I have known since the 9th grade, tells me he’s getting a new car, and I’m thinking “great… another one?” This guy has more vehicles then a dealership’s used car lot, so out of curiosity, I ask him what the car is and the obvious question of “can I drive it?” He answered “it’s an S14″ and the obvious answer of “you definitely can not drive it.” Continue reading and view more photos on MotorMavens.

Beat the Heat's Inaugural Henry Canales Memorial National Capitol Race

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Here’s the word from CarDomain member and Beat the Heat organizer Jim Butler:

Old Dominion Drag Strip is hosting the first ever Beat the Heat race in the Washington DC area September 11-12. There are Beat the Heat teams coming from as far away as TX and OK to participate. This is everyone’s opportunity to race a cop and not worry about getting a ticket! But remember, cops like fast cars too!

There are 20 Beat the Heat teams that have committed to make the trip to DC from as far away as TX. These photos are good examples of the variety in Beat the Heat. The ’57 is out of Tulsa, OK, the Mustang is from Chattanooga, TN, the Dakota from Bluffton, IN and the Olds is from the Chicago area. Cars range from rather slow, my stock ’93 Vette, to darn quick, that Dakota has a 490 cu. in. monster in it!

See the other cars after the jump!

Car Feature: BMW E46 M3 CSL

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Since I started contributing to Speedhunters, my main area of focus has always centered around drifting and with that, predominantly its been about the Prodrift Series. Of course I have no complaints about this area of work, but I often find myself wanting outside of these tight JDM orientated circles. When Rod dropped me the line to say that September was to be BMW Month, I knew, I just knew I had to find an M3. I don’t know a whole lot about the history of BMW but I do know what I like. With big thanks to the guys at Driver.ie for helping me source this particularly awesome example, I present to you, arguably the greatest M3 of all time, the E46 CSL. '65 Bug Gets Subaru STi Transplant

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

I’ve always had a soft spot for the VW Bug, and someday, I’d love to own one. Other than their uber-sloppy gearboxes—I think the shifter feels like a mop in a bucket—I’ve never had an issue with any of the little car’s characteristics. But I don’t think anybody would argue that it couldn’t use a little more power, and power certainly isn’t going to be a problem with this project. In place of the stock unit, this baby is sporting a motor from a Subaru WRX STi, and while the bodywork hardly looks stock, I think its  performance is going to surprise anyone who’s not in on the joke. Check out the video below for details on the build, and head over to StreetFire to watch it pull some launches.

World of Top Gear

By Tony Castellano

Tcassa

The other week I paid a visit to the World of Top Gear, located in the grounds of the National Motor Museum. The ‘Enormodrome’ as it’s called allows you to get up-close and personal with some of the battered, modified and ruined cars from many of your favorite TG episodes! My favorite was probably seeing Jeremy’s Fiat Panda Limo… what an awesome creation! Plenty of pics after the jump!

Coming Soon: Chevy Enthusiast, a New Monthly Print Magazine with CarDomain Contributor Rich Truesdell as Editor

By Jim Brennan

UDMan

With automotive information coming at you from all directions on the web, and with a very active blogosphere, you would think that print media would be a dying breed, and in some ways it is. However, a new title will make its debut at the SEMA Show this November, Chevy Enthusiast from Amos Press.

Suicide Machine: Millyard Viper V10

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

In the supercar world, Dodge’s Viper isn’t known for the being the easiest machine to control. Maybe it has something to do with the volcanic power of its eight-liter V10? The dearth of electronic nannies? Anyway, I was a floored when I saw that UK-based Millyard has gone and dropped the evil Mopar’s heart into a motorcycle. I mean, it’s not like getting killed is particularly difficult a regular bike, but with 500HP on tap, winding up as a long red streak on the pavement would be—sorry—dead simple. What do you think; does selling somebody one of these creations constitute assisted suicide?

Honda Offset Kings at Nisei, Vol.1

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

I know, I know. Some of you have been dying to see our next installment of Nisei Week coverage, but it’s been hard to sit down and organize my photos because I’ve been so slammed with meetings over the past few days. It’s true, Motor Mavens was a grassroots effort that was started by a few close friends, but we are working night and day to bring you new content, broaden our reach and let everyone know about the site. We need help! We’re growing at such an alarming rate, it’s honestly quite overwhelming… if anyone is down to help the cause, please hit us up at motormavens(at)gmail.com!

But back to our unfinished story about Nisei Showoff, perhaps the thing that most impressed and surprised me was the sheer number of good offset Hondas that made their way to Little Tokyo to represent. These aggressive offset, slammed Hondas are dope as hell. In my opinion, these cars inject new enthusiasm and excitement to the Honda scene, and the Japanese car scene in Southern California overall. Hopefully the days of FR guys hating on Hondas and FF drivers are gone… I personally have nothing but respect for these guys. Their style is fresh and innovative, and all I can say is… it’s about freakin time! The Southern Cali Honda guys have now joined the aggressive offset movement, and hopefully the path has now been paved for the rest of the country… please take notes, kids!

Regarding the photo below, make a decision. The stance or the girl, which one would you choose? Continue reading and view more photos on MotorMavens
