Hardcore Porsches on the Streets at Scottsdale Pavilions
desert-motors.com
I try to make it out to the Scottsdale Pavilions car show at least every other week or so. It’s a a weekly car show where people come and go throughout the afternoon/night and just about any kind of car, bike, motorcycle, etc. is welcome and common. Every now and then, something (or some things) come along that just make me go “wow.” The group of Porsches that came out this past weekend is a good example of one of these ocassions. Built and brought out by Patrick Motorsports, the blue/purple car is a seven year project that was seeing the street for the very first time. The green 914 is running a 355 V8 with a monstrous supercharger sitting on top and makes one hell of a noise. More photos of these cars and some others in high-resolution at Desert-Motors.

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: The 1992 – 93 Dodge Daytona IROC R/T
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome to another installment of the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a regular feature which aims to expand the definition of what a muscle car is, and to find out if there is such a thing as four cylinder muscle while doing so. The Dodge division of Chrysler had a marketing coup during the early 1990′s because it sponsored a series of races called the International Race of Champions, or IROC. This series was promoted as the equivalent of the all star game for Major League Baseball, or the equivalent of the Masters Golf Tournament. In this series, drivers raced identically prepared stock cars, in an effort to make it a test based on just the drivers ability. The series started in 1974 with Porsche Carrera RSR’s, but quickly switched to Chevrolet Camaros the next season, and was the car of choice for the next 12 seasons. It was Dodge that provided major sponsorship for the 1991 IROC season, and the cars would assume the shape of the Dodge Daytona for the next three seasons. However, since the Daytona was really a FWD Sports Coupe, there was no relationship between race car and production car. But, let’s not dismiss the IROC Daytona R/T, because it was one very potent car.

The Gorgeous New Infiniti Essence
Antonio Alvendia
“Oh my god!”
“Simply stunning!”
“That’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!”
You can expect to hear people to say things like that when you tag along with the Essence, Infiniti’s new flagship concept car and 20th birthday present to itself, on a mini-tour of the U.S. This is the first that many Americans will be seeing of this 592-horsepower car since its debut at the Geneva auto show back in March. Buying a New Car: The Purchase, The Review, The End
By Mike Musto
RideLust.com
Well the journey is finally over, it’s been over one month since I started my hunt for a new car and it finally came to an end this weekend. It’s been a long harsh road filled with a host of automotive ups and downs. If you recall I started my search during the “Cash for Clunkers” program, but alas, it yielded nothing but annoying dealer confrontations. Then I tried the “certified used” route but this too was met with more aggravation due to inept dealers. I finally settled on a low mileage, privately owned vehicle that fit my needs and wants and honestly feel that it was the best way to go.

Mass. Cruisers Gillette Stadium Cruise Night September 2009
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
The Mass. Cruisers car club recently started an every-other-week cruise night at Patriot Place, the complex in Foxboro, Massachusetts, where Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots, is located. Long story short, in less than a full season of existence, it draws nearly 2,000 cars per event. This thing is truly epic.
The September cruise featured the most diverse crowd of cars and trucks we have seen in a couple years. Unimogs, new Ferraris, and traditional rods and kustoms were mixed in with lifted trucks, lowered trucks, and in one case, a completely scratch-built truck. If you live in the New England area, and you can sneak out of the office on a Thursday this fall, make it happen. Apparently this mother will go until the snow flies. You can learn more at the Mass. Cruisers site here.

Overturned Car and Table by Matt Rus

The Real JDM
Not sure how old this clip is but judges Nomura Ken, Manabu “Mana-P” Suzuki and Keiichi “Dorikin” Tsuchiya were really lucky that the driver who crashed his S13 in front of them only overturned their table. On different camera angle you can see how the judges jump back!
What Did You Do This Weekend?
Automotive Traveler
I spent my weekend covering several venues all over Southern California, putting at least 300 miles on my Corvair for Saturday, and at least a couple of hundred miles in a Pontiac Solstice on Sunday.
The alarm rang at 5:15 AM Saturday morning, and I wanted to be out the door by 6 AM so that I could grab a parking spot at Cars and Coffee just about an hour away. I decided to take the Corvair simply because I love driving it so much and after spending time the previous week in a half dozen rental cars, including a six-cylinder Camaro, and on too many airplanes, I thought rolling down the windows for the early morning drive would be invigorating and clear the cob webs out of my brain.
