Bone Stock 1955 Willys CJ-3B Jeep on Craigslist
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Flat-fender Jeeps are coveted by collectors and off-roaders alike. They are iconic American vehicles, and in the case of this 1955 CJ-3B for sale in the Chicago area, direct descendants of the Jeeps that helped to win WWII. We’re not total Jeep geeks, but we know some of the subtle differences that a 3B model has over its older brothers.
The CJ-3B was the first civilian Jeep to used the F-head Hurricane engine that replaced the little “Go-Devil” flattie four banger that had been powering Jeeps for years. The Go-Devil, while reliable, was a wimpy engine, not suited to meet the demands of a power hungry public. The valve-in-head Hurricane filled that bill but required some cosmetic changes.
Due to the increase in height with respect to the engine, these Jeeps have a higher hood line than previous models. The little CJ-3B was kind of lost in the mix when CJ-5 and CJ-6 models hit the sales floors, but production trooped along until 1967 with nearly 200,000 of the little toughies built.
This one is a great example of a bone stocker. It has 21,000 miles, retains the stock six-volt electrical system and has no lift kit or suspension modifications. It’s a Jeep we crave. It would be fun to wheel this thing and see how capable those oldies really were.

GT-RR For “R” – Our Latest Build, In Progress
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
Looking back, we still feel so grateful that last year we were given the chance by two of our clients to build them award winning GT-Rs for last SEMA. One of the biggest rewards of those projects has been the trust placed in us to take on new projects for new clients. This is one of those new projects, and I’m, as always, very excited about it!
Taking advantage of our strong partner network, our client “R” asked us to build him his own version of an ultimate GT-R and to do so on the East Coast of the US. We have been fortunate over the years to have built up an incredible partnership with who we feel are some of the best tuning shops, body shops and partners the industry has to offer and this project was a chance for us to put our partner network into action with a full build!
Recently I bought a brand new GT-R 2010 Premium Edition on behalf of “R” to begin the build. The goal was to buy and build a complete car to be delivered to our client “R” upon completion. You can see the stock 2010 GT-R pictured below. I snapped that picture about 10 days ago, last time I was in New York managing the build. Continue reading at The Real JDM

The 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI is Pretty Darn Fun
By DriverSide
DriverSide
Supercars are famous for being a lot like exotic snakes – if you’ve got enough cash you can own one, but you do so at your own risk. In either case, if you lose control for just a split second, you are going to get bit; though unfortunately no anti-venom in the world can quell the humiliation and financial ruin of a totaled supercar. Or at least that’s how it used to be, until the advent of the Audi R8.
Named after Audi’s five-time Le Mans winning prototype, the R8 may go down as the world’s first truly forgiving supercar. Its mid-engine balance and Quattro all-wheel drive make the relentlessly fast and immensely capable R8 astonishingly easy to drive at speed. And now they’ve gone and wedged a V-10 in it. Don’t get us wrong, the standard V-8 R8 was no slouch, but it hung out more in the Porsche 911 circle than it did with the supercar crowd. But now that it boasts 525 horsepower and a robustly exotic V-10 soundtrack, it has true supercar credentials. Inside, drivers enjoy typically stellar Audi build quality, not to mention the sound of that mid-mounted engine cranking away. Certainly people will find a way to wreck even this most tolerant of land rockets, but with such impeccable balance, grip and agility, they’re going to have to kick this snake pretty hard before it bites back.

Dymaxion No. 2 Restoration Underway; Your Help Needed
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
We talked recently with Phil King over at Crosthwaite and Gardiner, one of England’s most renowned restoration houses, and found out that they’d not only been entrusted with the restoration of Dymaxion No. 2, the only known surviving iteration of Buckminster Fuller’s streamlined automobile dream, but they’d also been tasked with the re-creation of Dymaxion No. 3, a car last seen in the 1950s. Phil said Dymaxion No. 2 will only go through a partial restoration – they don’t plan on getting it in running condition – but Dymaxion No. 3 will be a fully functioning vehicle. Oh, and they plan on finishing both cars by the beginning of 2010. Continue reading at Hemmings

Stanceworks 328i Sedan

Car Culture At Large
Over the past few weeks we’ve been in touch with Mike Burroughs of Stanceworks.com. If you’ll remember, he’s the one that made the cross country road trip from Tennesee to California in his rat style E28 last month. Mike has been nice enough to supply us with photos of some the Stanceworks BMW’s, including the ’96 328i sedan you see below. The car is owned by Mike Theron of Plesanton California, and in keeping with the Stanceworks name, it’s got the wheel fitment and ride height game on lock. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Do It In Daytona
Grassroots Motorsports
The Rolex 24 At Daytona is one of those must-do motorsports events. The race has attracted some star-studded fields lately, and the action has been terrific. The most recent running saw David Donohue win it by less than two tenths of a second–that’s nuts. We’re hosting a little hospitality package, and of course you’re all welcome. We’ll take you behind the scenes and give you the full Daytona experience.

Jeep Makes Massive Jump!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
OK, Jeeps are tough. Everybody knows that. But even the burliest of machines has its limits, and this giant jump was probably a little too much to ask of a Wrangler. I’m sure the front end of this baby is totally wrecked, and that landing couldn’t have been a terribly comfortable for the driver. Seriously, an impact like that could leave you with chipped teeth! Oh, and I think the dude who edited this deserves some bonus points for the inspired use of “I Believe I Can Fly.” Enjoy.
