1985 El Camino Sporting a Caddy Bum on eBay
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
This is a confusing piece. isn’t it? Normally people turn stuff into El Caminos by adding a truck like bed. Few people actually modify the Elky to be more car like. The seller of this creation is one of the few. See the eBay auction here.
Talk about having two faces. Up front there’s the boxy, angular 1980s styling and out back there is the swoopy early 1990s Cadillac bumper, tail lights, and trunk lid. You can open the trunk, which extends all the way to the back of the cab with the press of a button.
We’re not knocking the car when we ask the simple question, why the hell would someone do this? It appears to be done very well, we’re just looking for clarification on the reasons for the mashup. Make a bid on it and we can guarantee that you’ll have the only one on your block!
Thanks to BangShift.com member Mr4Speed for the tip.

I would have either picked an older rear, or updated the front.
It is basically a toneau cover.

If this was my project I’d take parts from a 1998-2004 Cadillac Seville. I would take the front end, doors, dashboard, steering wheel, seats, and engine and from the Seville and install those parts in the El Camino. The engine would be powering the rear wheels unlike the it was when it was in the Caddy. I’d replace the carpeting, add HID headlights, LED tails/license plate lights/gauges, a nice set of rims, rear dual exhaust, wood truck bed, and mesh grille. I’d probably paint it Cobalt Blue and add some red neon underneath. I’d be a lot of work but I think it’d look tight.

Really cool, but the interior is not well done at all. Shame the outside is done up so nice and then crap for interior

LOL… that’s an awesome coincidence in proportion and shapes that led to this mod. I’m impressed with whoever put these two very different things together to create this. One of the most cool Camino mods I’ve seen.

While I agree that a nice job was done, I am just not a fan of these types of conversions….mashing two cars together, ect.

That’s pretty remarkable. Not a big fan of the wheels… but the conversion done looks amazing.
Maybe Caddy should have made a luxury version of the El Camino?

Coming from a fellow Elco owner, the Cadillac tail light conversion/integration is something I would like to do one of these days. The tail lights are much more visible than the OE bumper lights. Which will lessen the chance of getting rear ended by unobservant driver.
This guy just took it a step further and integrated the rear clip of the caddy into a sweet looking tonneau/rear bumper cover.
