Duster Beats the Nova on CarDomain

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Our second eBay Motors Showdown went to the 1973 Duster 340 by a pretty wide margin. It’s interesting to note that the Duster only got bid up to $13,600 before the auction ended, well shy of the $16,5000 reserve. The 1972 Nova sold for $14,500. Have any ideas for next week’s match up? Post them in the comments below!

My very first car was a ’72 Duster, had no engine or trans. Got it free and had it towed to my Dad’s driveway without his knowledge. He was livid, and gave me 3 days to get rid of it. I traded it for my first motorcycle, a Kawasaki 440LTD in good running shape. Rode that for about 3 years.

I was never a fan of the Duster, always thought it was a really stupid name as well as its variants (Feather Duster, Gold Duster, Silver Duster, Space Duster, Duster Twister… ooh give me a freaking break) BUT aside from the original box Nova I’m not a fan of the later generations of those either.

Give me a Barracuda instead. It’s one badass rock song by Heart and an equally badass car that passed the baton to the dust buster.

Sorry Duster heads, not meant to offend, just my 2 cents.
