GM is Scared of Mr. Angry

That’s the only possible reason I can think of that Mike was turned down for a chance to go up against Bob Lutz and his CTS-V. As many of you know, Mike is a NASA track instructor with a lot of experience at the Monticello Motor Club, where this little event will be held on Thursday. Mike also just acquired a Dodge Magnum SRT-8 that he was gonna run (yeah, it weighs a lot more and has less hp than the Caddy). But GM won’t let him. In all honesty, I’d be very curious to see how it would all play out. I was at Monticello yesterday doing a test drive in the Spyker’s new Airleron (stay tuned on that one) and we we’re all talking about Lutz’s little stunt.

When push comes to shove there is no way that I “should” be able to catch a CTS-V in my Magnum SRT-8. That doesn’t mean however that it couldn’t happen. God knows I’ve surprised the crap out of loads of folk in high dollar corner carvers in the ole’ Charger. So running the Maggie against Lutz and his CTS-V is really not that crazy of an idea.

What concerns me though is “WHY” are they turning people away? I know bloggers with some VERY competent cars who haven’t been let in… my question is why is Cadillac denying them entrance?

Heck, I’d be afraid of a rocket scientist with a AWD Hemi…, and I’m a GM guy.
However, that 700HP CTS-V…, is another story…

Ha, Jaguar just pulled their pledge to furnish a car for the event. That means both Jalopnik AND the Truth About Cars is not without a car to use at the event. Mike, expect Ray Wert (at my insistence) to call you……

That’s really too bad Mike. I was looking forward to seeing that Black SRT-8 running with Lutz. I was also looking forward to see a couple of other guys I talked into entering, but were also rejected. Looks like GM is stacking the deck.
