The Most Badass Movie Car Ever!

By Mike Musto

RideLust.com

Last night as I was skimming through the channels I came upon what is perhaps the most badass movie car ever to grace the big screen. It was made in 1973, had zoomies for exhaust pipes and a big honkin’ Weiand blower that helped this beast pump out 600 horsepower. You see Mad Max was on, not the Road Warrior mind you, but the original movie that started it all. I first saw this post-apocalyptic import when I was about 8 years old and I’ll never forget it. The phrase: “Last of the V8 Interceptors”, is a line that refers to one car only, this being the 1973 Ford Falcon XB GT of one Max Rockatansky. This was the car that Max used to get his revenge on the psychotic biker gang that mowed down his family and the one that he later used to scour the Australian wasteland in search of fuel.

Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG Drifts Nurburgring

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Ride along with the Mercedes-Benz  CL55 AMG as it drifts through the Nurburgring. The Nurburgring is one of the most challenging tracks in the world for both driver and vehicle. Various turn cambers, slopes, hills, and thrills create an amazing challenge that wears down parts, requires specially built engines, and drivers with intense stamina. Watching the CL55 AMG drift through Nurburgring, you can see how the advanced technology built into the Benz helps it achieve maximum drift angles at mind-boggling speeds.

Mercedes-Benz builds their vehicles with Nurburgring in mind, testing each model for performance and reliability on this course. The close ratio steering, large amounts of low end torque, and high horsepower of the CL55 AMG make it an ideal drifter. Read more about the Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

When Audi closed off nice twisty stretch of road in the Alps for a shoot, StreetFire member ViperRT10 took the opportunity to have a little fun with his favorite toy.  I’m guessing you’ve got to be a big shot to do something like this…

Ohio Man Reunited with Mopar Factory Racer He Bought New

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Man this is cool! Harmon Friend walked into a Dodge dealer in 1965, threw down $4,600, and drove off with a genuine factory killer. It was a Hemi-powered lightweight Coronet. Ma Mopar built just over a hundred of the cars, with the majority going to factory teams. Friend was a privateer and had great success with this car. He sold it, but last August, was reunited with the car after it was restored by a new owner.

It is believed to be one of only 35 that currently survive. A collector located the car in a Texas barn completely intact aside from the engine. The car is being restored back to factory fresh condition with a date correct engine. How amazing is it that all the sheet metal survived without being bent, crinkled, and warped to death? 20 years in a Texas barn were kind to this Coronet. If you are a Mopar enthusiast that subscribes to some of the marque specific mags, you’ll see this car in the coming months as it has apparently been shot for a couple of features. See the story now at Northern Ohio’s The Morning Journal.

GT-RR For “R” Signature Build #3 Completed

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

GT-RR’s third signature build has come to a close over the weekend. This car was conceptualized to do only one thing, to make our client “R” as proud of a GT-R owner as possible. Unlike our previous two GT-R signature builds which aimed to be essentially all things to all people (show cars, magazine cover cars, track cars AND to please our clients), this car is a focused and direct ode to “R” and his desire to own his dream GT-R.

As such, I can say already (without hearing any feedback from anyone else) that this project was a success because “R” was happy! As “R” called it “perfect” and “10 out of 10″, I let out a sigh of relief that months of planning and building this car resulted in the very success I envisioned for it. Hemmings Find of the Day: 1957 Cadillac

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

I would like to steer discussion of this 1957 Cadillac toward its professional car roots: Was it originally a flower car? Why alter the roof? Who did the conversion(s)? And I’d like to keep the discussion right there, because, quite frankly, those clowns on the organ freak me out. Continue reading at Hemmings

Mini-Irwindale in South Africa?

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Chris Davy, a reader from Romania sent us a few clips of a Romanian drifter who goes by the name of “Tengu”. Romania’s drift scene is very small, but Tengu has competed in events all over Europe and even holds a BDC license. He’s also drifted in South Africa, where the above clip was shot (he’s the one in the white R33).

Anyone else think the track in the video bares a little resemblance to Irwindale Speedway?
