Fastest Belt Change. Ever.

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Now, I’m not a master mechanic or anything, but even I know that you’re supposed to shut the engine off before changing a belt. But hey, this dude seems to have the whole quick change thing under control, so who am I to judge? I’m not sure if the tension is exactly where it needs to be, but that’s another detail I’m going to overlook in light of the general trickiness of this whole operation. Damn…

This strangely reminds me of a girlfriend i had with a really loose belt, but i didn’t go around bragging about how fast i could mount it.

Cool and totally stupid and dangerous at the same time…

Kids, DON’T try this at home. ;)

I’d like to see him try that with a serpentine. I’ve done something just as risky (if not more) and DON’T try to repeat my stupidity…

When I refreshing the engine bay in my red ’94 Firebird, I ran the engine so that the pulleys would be turning, making sanding them to prep for painting a very easy and fast operation, fortunately afterwhich I didn’t require an operation. The spinning radiator fan added to the fun.

FWIW it looked marvelous when I was done…
