CarDomain Finds: the Wraith

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

I’d never heard of the movie the Wraith, but it apparently featured this killer Dodge concept called the M4S Turbo Interceptor. Its little four-banger produces a very healthy 440 horsepower, and the car is supposed to top out around 195MPH. escaperoute has put together a cool ride page detailing the history and restoration of this baby, head over and check it out.

CarDomain Finds: Khalid’s Mazda RX-7

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Even though I occasionally make fun of rotary engines—My favorite punchline: communism worked in theory too—I’ve always loved the looks of this generation RX-7. Doesn’t it give off kind of a Batmobile vibe? Anyway, Khalid has done a fantastic job with his, head over to his page and check out the before and after pics.

Video of Mustang Skateboarding

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

The latest marketing creation from Ford shows a late model Mustang tearing up the urban streets with skateboarders. The idea and concept is great, but the general consensus on the web is that they could have done a much better job on the CGI. Read more about the Mustang skateboarding at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Racer Boy: Demolition Derby

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

So you want to get into motorsports, but the only thing in your driveway is grandma’s 1976 Buick stationwagon. You’re in luck. Knock the windows out of that bitch (the stationwagon, not your grandma) and head to the demolition derby.

Not only will you get the opportunity to cut off the exhaust system and enjoy the kick ass melody of an uncapped V-8, but you’ll get the chance for motorsports victory in front of a fairground stadium filled with drunk, derby fans. That’s right, you’ll be vying for glory in front of a paying and cheering crowd, try to find that at an autocross.

Demolition Derby is something YOU can do (and by destroying the car you’ll be saving the environment by ridding the world of another gas guzzling monster). To learn where, cost, car preparation, adrenaline factor and how to actually win a Demo Derby read the rest at Speed Sport Life.

Toyota Owners: Big Recalls Abound

By Katherine Helmetag

Atomicalex

Wow. That’s all I have to say about this recall. Over four million Toyota and Lexus vehicles need to return to the local motherships for the accelerator pedal problem. Dealers are being told to cut the pedal so that it can’t interfere with the floor mat, which should have already been removed or restrained (with a ziptie) by now. Please, please, please go to your dealer and have this work done – the last thing any of us here at CarDomain want to hear is that a sweet ride like DumpedCorolla‘s ended up in a wall. Toyota remains mum on the idea that there could be a serious software fault contributing to the problem. A full list of cars in the recall after the jump.

Cool Product Alert: the BOLT Lock by Strattec

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

At SEMA, I’m always running around the floor geeking out about all the sick machines, and to be honest, sometimes I forget that people actually launch products there. And while there were hundreds of new gadgets and gizmos that dropped this year, I have to say that I was really impressed with Strattec’s BOLT lock. The first time you use it, the mechanism learns the key you insert, which means you can have a padlock that works off your ignition key. Is that cool or what? Nads got all the details on this trick piece of kit when he swung by their booth—watch this video to find out how it works!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. There isn’t the shopping stress of Christmas, and if you’re a single dude like I am, all you have to do is sit around and eat. It’s just perfect. I’m home in Seattle right now, enjoying the cold weather and warm company, and I hope that all our readers have an absolutely awesome Thanksgiving. Thanks so much guys, you’re the reason I love my job so much!

Spotted this at the local tuner shop. How many funnies are in this plate? I count at least four.

Caption Contest: This Week's Winner!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

I saw that this week’s Caption Contest only got a 64 comments, which I’m pretty sure is due to the fact that commenting on the blog is messed up. We’re trying to get that fixed, and I apologize if it frustrated anyone. Anyway, this week’s winner is NSGrandAm, who came up with; “I don’t know why I couldn’t get the idiot lights to turn off… but now I don’t have to look at them.” Nice work man! Tune in tomorrow for the next installment of our ferociously popular Caption Contest!
