Italian Masterpiece Art on an Italian Masterpiece

By Jim Brennan

UDMan

This Lamborghini Gallardo was sitting next to the Tap Out slammed Surburban at the Goin’ Hard Wheel booth, and while I find customized Exotic Cars quite nauseating, this one was actually quite tasteful. Continue reading after the jump!

Long Live the King: Richard Petty at SEMA!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

One thing I hate about SEMA? How slow the crowds move. I bicycle around 100 miles a week, so having to be in traffic with heards of fat dudes who drive down to the mailbox makes me want to kill myself. But anyway, on the way to the show this morning, Jen and I came up on a pack of particularly slow-moving folks, and I was reminding myself that it’s not OK to just bodycheck them out of the way, when I noticed Richard Petty was in the middle of the throng signing autographs. If you aren’t familiar with his signiture, it makes John Hancock’s look like it was done by a drunken four year old, and he was graciously autographing everything put in front of him. Long live the king!

Mopar Alley

Mopar Alley was a pretty big disappointment this year. And what’s up with roping off the cars? More pics and a video after the jump.

Mopar at SEMA

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Really not a whole lot to report about the Mopar booth at SEMA this year. Yeah, the Jeep Lower Forty is cool, but you already knew that. I was nonplussed by the 1320 Challenger. More pics and video after the jump!

The twin turbo 572 big block Chevy in this thing puts out 2,000 hp! Custom turbo, intake and headers by Nelson Racing. The guy who owns this is  a friend of CarDomain, so we may get a ride in it after it gets back to Seattle. More pics and a short video after the jump! You can also watch a cool video of Adam Carolla talking to Tom Nelson about this car over at Motorator.

This Year's Barfiest Interior

By Jim Brennan

UDMan

“That has to be the barfiest interior,” Jen said when she saw the pictures of this truck. It might even top out the puke fest that was last year’s worst interior. The creation is supposed to be a mid-60′s Chevy truck, but is actually vintage-styled sheet metal over an 80′s Chevy truck. The interior, or what’s left of it, gave away this truck’s identity. More pics after the jump!

Corky Coker Announces Revolutionary Hot Rod Radial At SEMA

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Okay, I’m just going to say this up front: I love Coker Tire. They make reproduction vintage and period-correct tires for rides that you might not otherwise be able to find tires for at all, given the growing scarcity of obsolete sizes. Hell, they even make a reproduction Michelein TRX for the oddball metric tires my Escort GT came with from the factory–how could I not love them? Anyway, today at SEMA Coker Tire announced that they’re producing something that’s been pretty hard to find up until now: a credible radial for traditional hot rods. Most of the re-pops have been bias-plies, which look good but have notorious problems with handling and tread life–a radial wears a lot better and features more predictable handling at speed, but until now have been really hard to find in hot rod sizes. The new Exselsior Stahl radial claims to solve all that, and will be available for shipping beginning January 1st. Too bad, because I can think of more than a few gearheads who’d want a set of these for Christmas. See the tire below the jump!
