One Too Many: Wald's Prius
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
Sometimes I’m easily amused. I found this early rendering of the Wald “Black Bison Edition” Prius aero kit and I just had to comment on it. I know the Prius tuning is big business in Japan and judging from the looks of this design, I think Wald took it pretty seriously. The only problem is that I think they took it a little too seriously. It looks like they kept on adding more and more until there was simply one too many things going on with it. Isn’t that what ricers do best though?? Overkilling the visual appeal until it isn’t appealing is nothing new to alot of self-proclaimed tuners. What’s worse is that the JDM manufacturers are on the bandwagon alot of times. I would never mod a Prius (Ok, I might donk one just for laughs and the sheer stupidity of the idea, but I’d get rid of it afterwards), but then again I don’t see things the same way. I’m an American car guy all the way. I like it old school.
