CarDomain Launches Rides For Sale!

By Ryan Porter

IN-N-OUT Editor

It’s been a long time coming. Users have been asking for years and many users have been doing it on their own, but now it’s official, YOU CAN LIST YOUR RIDE FOR SALE ON CARDOMAIN!

It only makes sense that after ten years of showing off your cars you can now list them for sale in the same exact place. And what better place to list your car for sale than CarDomain, where people will most appreciate highly modified cars for sale. Gone are the days when you had to list the value of your modifications in the body–that’s now a default data point for us.

This feature has been up for about a week with no fanfare, and we already have 400 cars listed. We’ll continue to enhance this features as time goes on, so please leave us your feedback or feel free to private message me if you have any questions of comments. I’ve also added a bunch of screen shots of the new feature after the jump.

bitchnbobb: understood, I will get that into the queue to make it editable by you.

KustomKiely, thanks for the heads up and we’ll get that taken care of.

once you set a price though you cant edit it and if you deactivate your listing it automaticly marks your car as sold. So two things this needs to be fixed are. being able to edit your prices and be able to deactivate the sale without it marking your car as sold.

I have friends thats thinking Im selling my ride. Thinking I cant get it done and want out. Why is this? Ill tell you why! When a unregisterd user gets on here, everyones page says Make me a offer.
I used to come to this site to dream about cars and find out how to do things. Now the place will fill up with garbage but I hope not.

Ryan: The offer feature idea is nothing short of BRILLIANT. That is a seriously good concept and to my knowledge it has no known precedent on the web (at least not known to me, and I’ve been everywhere).

This idea is so good because it is rooted in a real life, practical aspect of vehicle sales that really hasn’t been exploited. It really is genius. Not that anyone died and made me king but I’m very impressed.

It’s with out a doubt that CarDomain needed this ability. Over the years we’ve handed thousand’s of cars for sale on the site and it makes so much sense to let everyone search them now!

Salim, You can deactivate your listing and it will come down. When you are editing your ride like for the sub-navigation in the left hand columns similar to the ratings link. From there your ride will be taken down from the listing within 24 hours.

As for GTwildfire’s comments we’re absolutely in tune with you. We are aware of how great the rides are on our site and we don’t want to jeopardize that by turning this place into one huge car lot. With that said we have to walk before we run so as we build up more rides for sale there is a very strong chance that it will break off into it’s very own product with more features specifically around shopping for cars, etc.

One a side note we’re also playing with this make me an offer item that isn’t fully functional at this point. The thought here is that many of us often times don’t have our car for sale but are willing to sell it if the price is right and I even proved this in my recent Porsche purchase. I was looking at three specific Porsches that were not for sale (1 on CarDomain, 1 from a friend, and 1 from a forum). All three owners were willing to sell and it made for one great transaction. We want to push this same idea throughout CarDomain. If you have any feedback about this feature and the development of it please let me know.

I like the points the GT mentioned…but I fear I am siding with FordsRuleAll….
Cardomain is a myspace for us Car nuts. I hope ppl wont think of us as that “other sell your car site”

If the general public catches on, you guys may want to spin off the sale feature for those who only intend to sell cars and not become active CarDomain members. There is potential of this happening, but at the same time it could become self-sustaining or even profitable if it becomes real popular.
-
Presently, there are folks who like free posting on Craigslist, but hate the riffraff. There are also folks who prefer to post on Cars.com, AutoTrader, etc but don’t like their prices.
-
Don’t underestimate the niche.

Good idea, I just hope that this is not what most people will take CarDomain for.
