Can you really get a Miata for $1,500? And what will it look like? Check out this recent thread on VWVortex.

They are so cheap to get… You can get an early first gen and insure it for 1500 if you look in the right places. I was gonna pick one up a few weeks ago then let my wife talk me out of it for a more “family friendly” car… But I’ve had a few miatas from all generations play with my car on the high way and they do hold their on

Well I am glad to see a bit of support for this fantastic car, I think the if there is a car that could be called the perfect driving machine like BMW says it should be this little guy, it’s a ton of fun, handles like a dream and it can be turned into lethal weapon when modded right.
This cheap Miata doesn’t surprise me there are great deals out there on this fun roadsters. I got my 96 M edition for $1200 3 years ago. I’ll like to clarify that putting a V8 in these cars don’t take away handling when done right and in a professional way,for info, Monstermiata.com, Flyingmiata.com here is a great Miata community it’s miles away from other forums no message goes unanswered.

I’ll own one some day. Thats one of the most affordable track cars out there. Maybe when I’m no longer a student.

Totally agree with you, Sam. I even had one idiot try to tell me that the Miata was FWD!! Boy, was he shocked when that thing pulled a burnout!! 350 hp on a Miata is like 650 hp on one of the larger American muscle cars. So it looks a little like it came out of “Cars”. So what?? I’m not typically a fan of Japanese cars, but given Ford’s 50% stake in the company, and the fact that the Miata was the first true roadster since the Shelby Cobra, I’d take one in a heartbeat. Oh, you can also drop a V8 in one if you don’t mind losing a little cornering ability…

I bought a ’91 a few years ago for $1200. It had a couple of dings and scratches, but a nice interior and after fixing an exhaust leak it ran perfectly.

As I’ve said numerous times in articles, anyone who says a) they don’t like Miatas has never driven one like they were designed to be driven, and b)they think Miatas are “girls’ cars” obviously must mean that they’d be perfect for Donna Mae Mims, Danica Patrick, Lynn St. James, Pat Moss, Denise McCluggage…

I’ll take one for free.

A buddy of mine picked a ’90 model up for $700. It looked like the one in the above picture except it needed a new top. The interior was trashed as a result, but it was a good rust free car with a fresh engine and manual tranny.
