I Hate 'Oh No' Moments

By Ron Honig

WaytooFurious

I couldn’t believe it the other week when I had an ‘oh no’ moment. To cut a long story short, I had been on a holiday where I had driven the Plymouth halfway across the country to visit my father. Covering a total of 2,000 miles, I drove through torrential rain storms, insane Sydney traffic and what seemed like endless roadworks on the Hume Freeway. All of it without putting so much as a scratch on my car! When I got back home I decided to take the car to the local car wash. It was there that I managed to side swipe a trailer while backing up. I didn’t see it because it was out of sight behind a large 4wd. Nuts, 2,000 miles without a scratch and I manage to beat it to death at the local freaking car wash! I was so angry with myself that I kicked the bumper, it didn’t help. But it is better now as it has been repaired and looks like new. So when was the last time that you had a motoring ‘oh no’ moment?

The Chevy actually put up a pretty good fight in this week’s eBay Motors Showdown, but at the end of the day, the Viper wins for being more exclusive and more insane. Stay tuned for another eBay Motors Showdown next week!

Pair of 'Vettes Have a Close Call!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Everything looks solid as this pair of ‘Vettes square off, but after they get moving, the guy on the left loses it and winds up nearly taking out his competition. This whole thing could have been so much worse…

Suzuki Submarine

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

The Suzuki Samurai was a much maligned little 4×4 back when Consumer Reports got one to “roll” on its test course. Turns out that the little bastards are great off-road trucks with the proper modifications. Some dudes in Australia found that a Sami can also act as a submarine. “How low can you go?” takes on a whole new meaning here.

Hemmings Find of the Day – 1965 McLaren and other movie cars

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

All this talk of movie cars this week has me looking through the Hemmings.com classifieds for more. I see some Bentleys and Rolls-Royces owned by movie studio executives, Miley Cyrus’s Mini, Bruce Willis’s 1988 Lincoln limousine, a 1960 Ford Country Squire that appeared in Oliver Stone’s “The Doors,” a 1950 Ford Country Squire that appeared in some movie I’ve never heard of, and all of Volo’s various listings (including, apparently, the actual Miami Vice Ferrari Daytona).
