Caption Contest: This Week’s Winner!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
Eagle-eyed readers will notice that I’m announcing the winner of the Caption Contest a day early. So if you had a killer submission you were hoping to slide in at the last minute, I sincerely apologize. But the CarDomain staff is taking Christmas Eve off, and we figured announcing a day early was better than doing it four days late, or like, totally forgetting to do it. Anyway, this week’s winner is Robb65, who came up with; “For my birthday, my wife wanted to give me a “flame job.” I told her to stick with what she knew… “ Dude, that was one of the funniest captions I’ve read all year. Congrats. And to all the winners awaiting their swag, hang tight, I’m just trying to make sure we don’t have to send you office supplies instead of cool t-shirts. Happy Christmas everyone, tune in tomorrow for the latest installment of our chemically dependent Caption Contest!

Volvo to Geely
Atomicalex
Looks like Ford is close to closing a deal with Geely to sell the brand to the Chinese manufacturer. Geely has been the punch line of many automobile jokes over the past few years, so it’s no surprise they are shopping for a brand with both safety and style. Unlike the SAAB dealings over at GM, in which the brand and tooling are being broken up, the Volvo deal will include both. Could this be the first brush with the US market for the Asian newcomers? We’ll see when the IIHS and NHTSA have a go at any new designs. In the mean time, expect Volvo to remain a presence in the US with manufacturing contracted to Ford until a complete transfer can be arranged.

Fireball Gets a New Toy for Christmas…
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
So. Contemplation time. Should I? Should I not? If only I had a flower to which I could yank pedals. Or a coin? Maybe rock, paper scissors?
I’m here at American Classic Cars, browsing. Browsing for an idea. An idea placed in my noggen from a new client that wants me to SLAM! CHOP! CUT! …AND DESIGN AWESOMENESS!!!!!!! Who’s the client? Oh, do tell….
Ok. Relax. Ommmmm…. Maybe a yogurt would help. Wait. I don’t really like yogurt. Why am I talking to myself all of a sudden? Ok. Get a grip. Just pick one, Fireball….
The orange hot rod here is only a million bucks. (Think I’ll skip that one.) Good. I’m pairing it down. Maybe something in the $3.99 range? Maybe something different than a Hot Rod? Maybe…
What will I do with it when I get it and bring it to the shop? :-0
“Something wicked this way comes….”
Insane Wheelstand Sequence: A ’32 Chevy Sedan On the Bumper!
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
This ain’t no freaking street rod! This killer action sequence was captured by Action Racing Photos, a drag racing photography outfit in the New England area. Denis LeBlanc operates the company and along with shooter Jay Spinella, caught this 1932 Chevy trying to turn itself over backwards at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hamphire.
According to Jay Spinella, the car is packing a 550ci big-block Chevy engine and the guys who run it were having trouble getting the car to hook up so they made a change with the ladder bars. What you are looking at is the very next pass after they made the adjustment. We guess it worked. Continue reading and see the rest of the pics at BangShift.com!

The Secret Is Out – Gemballa Ferrari Enzo MIG-UI
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
I’ve been holding a secret for a long time…A while back one of my friends (a member of the Galadari family) in Dubai told me about this project they were working on with Germany’s famous Porsche tuner Gemballa. The project shocked me because of just how insane it was. After seeing some early sketches of the project, I was convinced that it would turn out to be pretty wild!
Now many months later after painfully suppressing this secret, the pictures are here. The Gemballa Enzo project lives!
I’ve been given permission finally to release the pictures, but it seems that I might not be the first to leak them. Regardless I think I was one of the very first to know about this project many months ago, so I still feel its relevant to publish these here.

Ones of a kind – Claymobile, Voyageur, Coachman
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
The month of July 1977 was a good one for Hemmings Motor News. Within the span of just a few pages, we had display ads for three different one-of-a-kind vehicles, two of which we know are still around today.
The first, the Claymobile, was the subject of not only a post here a year ago, not only of some controversy over its origins, but also apparently of a theft that, to our knowledge, remains unsolved. Note that it was then located in South Carolina, not Alabama, where it was rediscovered last year. Continue reading at Hemmings

Honda HSV-10 GT
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Honda just released this picture of their 2010 SuperGT entry. The Honda HSV-10 GT will replace the Honda NSX and is powered by a 3.4 liter V8 with more than 500bhp. It will debut at the SuperGT opener on the 20th of March, but I’m sure there will be more info released by Honda before that. This shot already looks promising, and I’m just glad Honda continues their efforts in the SuperGT Series. Man, how hardcore does this car look…
