The guys down at fifteen52v2 must be smiling. VW is picking up the coupe torch again with the New Compact Coupe. Arriving in a haze of smoke and interpretive dancers (minus last year’s Star Trek speech), the new model is part of the “new” lineup that will fuel their expansion in the US market. It joins the New Compact Sedan (Jetta replacement) and the New Midsize Sedan (Passat replacment). Powertrain plans include a full hybrid drivetrain with a 27hp electric motor and battery power. This is a departure from the standalone clean Diesel gospel that the VW Group usually preaches, and is directed exclusively at the American market. More pics after the jump.

From the side; looking at it from the A piller and back; it looks like a 335i. From the front it reminds me of a 2006 Civic? The back lights are those of an S5. The over all design is not revolutionary, but I like it! looks good! Bring it! Hyundai’s been coping other cars for year’s why not VW?

Im gonig to agree with Albania_fier. At first glimpse, i am thinking Audi A5/S5. It is a very sleek and sexy looking car though. The best looking VW to hit the market in a LONG time

Strikes me as funny, among other things I won’t devulge in the blog but what I will say is dancing around a car at all the venues I’ve been to will surely get your ass kicked.
