Triumph TR6 vs. Lotus Esprit: Which Would You Choose?

Have $15K burning a hole in your pocket and want something British? Well how about these rides? This 1976 Triumph TR-6 has been redone and looks amazing in British Racing Green. This 1986 Lotus Esprit looks to be a solid, original car with a recent turbo rebuild. And these two examples represent the last year of production for the TR-6 and the pure Giugiaro-styled Esprit. So, which would you choose?

Probably the Triumph. The Lotus says, 80′s! all the way. I feel that I would need to be rockin at tennis outfit, and a magnum PI mustache.

THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME.. that´s what the add said then.. probablly a couple of years afterwards. this model Reminds me of the Austin Healey 3000.. wow.. the difference between those two could be worth it.. but Triumph VS. a Lotus? MY star would be on the side of the Lotus, cause.. it´s like an old 308 that will never become old..
besides the story behind LOTUS, and the story behind a TRIUMPH I loved and had a 650 Boneville.. I´m not sure then.. and today?

K2dogg86: I knew everything needed to know about Triumphs looong ago. Those were the cars that sat in driveways… for years. No kidding, at least 3 I can recall owned by 3 different people in 3 different places. They were best at rusting and keeping the driveway concrete pressurized in 4 spots. Never seen the 3 do anything else.

Who knew what a TR6 looked like and the lotus before the thread? TR6 never to be heard of again and was the mark for the MG and the 427 cobra. Styling that is. Driven down the road and you see them both. Who is gonna get more attention. A car people rarely see or the ugly grandfather from lotus? Noobs. Get some history.

TR6 would get fewer speeding tickets, and wouldn’t scream small penis like the Esprit dose. No offence meant if you own a Esprit but I’m going with the TR6.

Either one would be great, they’re both full of “character” meaming your chances of being stranded are about the same for both. It does sound like Monaco Luxury treats you right but I’m leaning towards the Lotus.

Well the lotus is faster but the truimph has more style. As for vlkings comments I like the green, red is so over done. Make mine the triumph.

I wish people knew what a proper car was. The TR6 has so much more style. So much more character and so much more story behind it. They are a great looking car and would attract more attention than that stupid lotus breaking down every 5 mile.
Paint it red, add some rims and a charger kit. Then you guys would change your mind. But I will still take it the way it is at the drop of a hat. TR6..The Real Car

Definitely the Lotus. Even at a standstill, it just looks faster plus the black and tan is just classic for a car of this stature.
