Speeding Mechanic
By Ron Honig
WaytooFurious
Over the years I have heard numerous stories of mechanics being caught speeding, or even crashing their clients cars. It does make you wonder what mechanic Leonie Magistro was thinking when he hit 160km/h in his client’s Lamborghini. After all he was only 60km/h over the speed limit! Get the full story at PerthNow. So has your mechanic ever abused your trust?

Yeah in all fairness how many opportunities will most of us who turn wrenches and REALLY appreciate cars get to fire up a Lamborghini? Sure the trouble will last a long time… but the memories will last a lifetime.

I don’t know if the owner of the car is at fault here… I know I’m going to get a lot of negative responses to this, but in all fairness, he was only going 160, and it is a Lambo! Would it have been as big of a deal if the owner himself was driving it? If that was my car, I’d personally request that the mechanics test it to that speed at least. I’ve gone 160 in a 100 zone many times in a crappy car, of course I’d want my Lamborghini to be safe at that speed.

No, not really… All of my mechanics are my close friends, relatives, or at least close friends of family.

well not about when they might have test drove my truck
–
but i took it to a shop because i had some wiring issues with my tail lights and headlights, the tail lights would only if i didn’t have my night running lights on, once i turned the headlights on like if it was night or raining the tailights wouldn’t work at all, nothing worked, and the headlights would work but not on high so i assumed it was just the daytime running lights that worked and nothing else, so i’d just be alright if i didn’t drive at night or heavy enough rain lol
–
well i took i to the shop i normally go, i’d normally try to fix something i can do myself but i don’t like wiring, i actually replaced the turn signal lever int he column which was a bitch and also the headlight switch in the dash hoping they wold fix it but they didn’t, what was weird is that eveything would work if i unhooked the battery and hooked it back which is resetting the computer so i thought it was a sensor
–
well i took it to the first shop, they called me a day or 2 later saying they fixed it, they charged be just labor ($120) for messing with wires or so they said, i go to check before i drive off and same thing, but weird is that only 1 tail light worked but the other didn’t, headlights still didn’t work, so i figure i leave it hoping they wouldn’t charge me again since it wasn’t fixed, well i called that evening and the guy told me the plastic shroud around the steering column was off and they had started looking at it, well in that same conversation on the phone he said they’re still going to charge me for labor to just look at it, well i thought that was BS and i rode by there after they left and my truck was in the same exact spot as it was when i left that day so i wondered if they even looked at it, i go up to it and look inside and nothing at all had been touched, well i hate being lied to so the next morning i called as soon as they opened and said i saw they didn’t start on it so im going to pick it up and i don’t owe anything since no work had been started, so i picked it up and took it to a mechanic i knew i can trust and also heard good stuff about, i’d rather people tell me straight up instead of telling me what i want to hear especially when im a customer, well i took it to the 2nd mechanic and it was a simple wire that goes to teh headlight switch and the tail light plate that the harness plugs into and the bulbs go into

so ever since i haven’t and won’t go to the 1st mechanic, im going to the 2nd one if i need to, but of course i always try to do ym own work if im able to, but i also don’t mind if i have to get a mechanic to do it, im thinking about taking automotive classes at the community college here and it says i can go for the ASE Certification so i might do that so i know i’d be able to do anything i wanted to

Many years ago I had a Mercury Sable (a.k.a. “the DISable”)
-
Anyway it needed some work, forget what, lost track. I had a friend follow me from work to down the street where I was having Strauss Auto do the repair, and he gave me a lift back.
-
Hours later I get a call. It was the manager from the repair shop telling me in a quivering voice that the mechanic who worked on my car was hit when pulling out onto Route 70. A Policeman at the scene told him to contact me because I needed to come to the scene. Supposedly there was a problem with my registration.
-
The registration thing pretty much set the thing in concrete because there was a problem with my registration (although it’s so long ago I forgot what the problem was).
-
I said “Is this a joke?”… “I wish it was” the voice over the phone said with absolution. I was then told to write down the name of the officer I’ll have to see when I get there. I hastily grab a pen and pad. “His name is officer Frank Kenny”…
-
At that point I didn’t know whether to kill my friend who gave me the ride back or feel ultimate relief. That was HIS name. I was DUPED.
-
of course I changed the name to protect the guilty.
