Fireball’s Cool Designs of the Week

By Fireball Tim

Movie Car Design Master

Been off doing time consuming things. Important stuff, like finding a diecast of a car that was never made into a diecast. And in that time, some cool cars have appeared. Thanks to John Heer, Rachel Dawson and Mr. Speedy who added to this week’s lot.

Since the word “cool” is now officially the best word on the planet… I give you some Cool Designs For the Week. From concepts to ‘realies’ to crazies. Oh, and if you’re n Vegas this week, come by my booth at Circus Circus and get a free t-shirt. Just mention the Car Domain Blog… and say “Hey, Fireball! GIVE IT TO ME NOW AND GIVE IT TO ME FREE!”

In order of whatever, this week’s lineup is super duper pooper. Ok, let’s begin…

1) A Bentley Concept. Big. Silver. Expensive. No free toothbrush. 2) Finally, a Buick that looks cool. The Regal GS. 3) Big Phat Yellow Widebody Camaro. Take it and light ‘er up. Done. 4) The Kia Ray Concept. Sneaky little Kia people creating coolness without even tellin’ us! 5) My personal fav, the Lambo Murcielago… ala new. I want it, AND I WANT IT NOW! 6) The Maserati Tramontane. Not sure exactly what’s going on here… but a cool shot, eh? 7) My early Speed Racer concept called Metal Juice. Don’t think it would make it into my driveway, though. 8) And finally, a sneaking Bentley Shooting Brake. More room for your Bullion.

Ridiculous amount of things going on this week. All new website, new toy, big show in Vegas and I’m buying a Toblerone. The BIG one. Peace.

Joon Maeng to Drift Bergenholtz Racing RX-8, Full Tilt Poker Title Sponsor

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

The Formula Drift silly season is in full swing and Bergenholtz Racing made some big moves ahead of the 2010 FD championship chase. First the famed Bergenholtz brothers parted ways with Justin Pawlak (recently confirmed to drive a 2010 Mustang for Falken Tire. Then they announced Joon Maeng as their new driver. The cherry on top of this NT05 smoke-filled sundae was the unveiling of their RX-8. Yes, it’s the same car, but for 2010 Full Tilt Poker has signed on as the team’s title sponsor. Hit the jump to see a video from the unveil by Bill Wood as well as some of the changes to the car and how Joon thinks he’ll fare in the switch from S chassis to RX.

Tony Stewart Responds to a Stupid Reporter

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

This clip really doesn’t need much of an introduction. A reporter asks Tony Stewart if NASCAR is too safe, and he responds with all the candor fans have come to expect from him. Bravo, Tony.

Bullrun is Back: Season Three Premieres Thursday!

By Mike Musto

RideLust.com

Way back in 2007 I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to participate in something that very few people get to be a part of–a reality show. The name of the show was “Bullrun,” hosted by Bill Goldberg and it was based on the cross-country road rally that carried the same name. 12 teams of two individuals and their automobiles, rallied 4000 miles through the continental United States competing for a chance at $200,000. Along the way we encountered everything from breakdowns to obstacles to dealing with the other teams. It was a wild ride and I have experiences that I’ll never forget… neither will my car for that matter. It’s now three years later and Bullrun is getting ready to premier its 3rd Season. Season one was shown on Spike TV, with seasons two and now three on Speed TV.

11,000 RPM Insanity From Norway

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Man alive! When we first watched this video of a Competition Eliminator car running in Oslo, Norway, we rubbed our eyes and watched again. Sporting a 297ci Ford motor, a tach that starts at 6,000 rpm, and a driver that can really row the Liberty 5-speed, this Ford Probe is off the charts awesome. Hell, the guy takes the car to 10,000 rpm during the burnout!

We hunted around for some photos of the outside of the car and it seems like this was once a Motorcraft sponsored entry, judging from the paint scheme. Either that or the owner is a big Ford nut and decided to paint his car like one of the Motorcraft schemed machines in tribute. Who gives a crap about the paint anyway?

Listen to the all-out fury that this little motor screams all the way down the track. The clutch is dumped at 10,000 and the needle goes over center more than a little during the lap so we’re thinking that 11,000 rpm is being realized at the finish line when the shift light is hopelessly pleading for another gear.

Hemmings Find of the Day – Mercury Marauder Concept Convertible

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

Heyyyy, didn’t we just see this 2002 Mercury Marauder concept car recently? Yes, it was one of the many cars that crossed the block at Mecum Kissimmee last month (the Mecum ad for the car remains up for now as well). We see from the auction results on Mecum’s home page that it bid up to $50,000, but didn’t hit the seller’s reserve. So now we see the seller’s putting it up for sale again, here on Hemmings.com, with an asking price of $75,000. From the seller’s description:

This one-of-one 2002 Mercury Marauder was built by Ford for the Chicago Auto Show. Ford invested over $300,000 in this unique contender, which features a supercharged 4.6 liter V-8 rated at 335 horsepower, 3-speed console-shifted automatic. Beautiful Leather interior with just 107 miles.

Blue KGC110

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Just found this picture of a not so standard looking KGC110 GT-R. It appears to have a side exit exhaust that could hint at something special under the bonnet. Other cool parts include the spoiler and Watanabe’s with semi slick tires wrapped around them. I also like the fact that the owner has painted the arch extensions the same color as the body of the car. Normally you would see them in black, but this just shows that it can look cool when painted. Via Al’s Car Stuff Blog
