383 V8-Powered Isuzu Amigo on Racing Junk

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Who would of ever thought that a lowly Isuzu Amigo could ever be considered awesome sleeper hotness? We didn’t see this one coming, but once we laid our eyes on it, we fell instantly in love. The sick bastard that decided to bolt a 450hp 383ci stroker into this little cute ‘ute should either be given an award or a straight jacket. We want to buy him beers.

From the photos shown on an ad at RacingJunk.com, the only initial judgement we have is on the exahust system which looks to be hanging really low and kind of awkward. We’re thinking that’s because an off the shelf header was used (not that there is one for this swap, but something that fit was shoehorned in) so a trip to the header shop would probably result in a cleaner job, and more sneaky approach to suprise unwitting victims.

One of the more interesting things mentioned in the ad is the fact that the body has been lowered three inches and “braced” to handle the massive power infusion.

Don’t get us wrong, the outside of the truck is still hideous. The graphics and half convertible top are enough to turn our stomach, but in our world, horsepower cures all evils. Just for a second imagine how awesome it would be to blow off “fast” stuff left and right with this thing.

We want it, bad!

Hemmings Find of the Day – Pink Econoline

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

Today’s HFOD, a 1961 Ford Econoline van, will cross the block at the Palm Springs auction in late February, but we have a preview of it up now at Hemmings.com. From the consignor’s description:

I am the third owner of the van. The first owner owned a plumbing business and owned it until the late 70’s. The second owner purchased the van where it set until the late 90’s which he put in the 302 engine and 9 inch rear end the he lost interest.

So whaddaya think it’ll go for? Four figures, five figures, six? Also, note how the consignor neatly avoided mentioning the color…

Tony Elrick’s EVO 6

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Before I start i must make one thing clear, I dont own this hardcore track focused Evo VI RSX you see before you but I know a man who does, Tony Elrick. Unfortunatly at this moment in time Tony is in hospital recovering from a serious road accident (thankfully not in his Evo) so he can’t give you the story in his own words but I hope I can do Tony and the car justice, hopefully seeing this will help his recovery that little bit extra! Street Racing Around School Buses

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Sometimes, it just gets out of hand. Driving a Nissan GT-R quick is cool on the track, but 135 miles per hour past a school bus is just ridiculous and absurd. Take it to the track dude! Read more about this stupid stunt at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

The 10 Best Car Chases of the 70s

By Mike Musto

RideLust.com

For those of you around back then, the 70s were awesome. We had bell-bottoms, disco and the Pontiac Trans Am. We were also inundated with the 70s style car chase. You see, in the 1970s they would generally use the same car throughout the entire chase scene. If directors could, they would try to get away with using only one car for a more authentic look and feel. Damage that occurred during filming could now be seen throughout the entire chase. These were filmed before computers, high end editing software and product placement. The results are some of the best car chases ever captured on film.

1. Vanishing Point: 1970

1970 Dodge Challenger

Kowalski. He was an ex-motorcycle racer, ex-racecar driver and ex-cop who’s all hopped up on speed (the drugs, not MPH). His job? Transport a supercharged 1970 Dodge Challenger to someone else in the movie who is not in any way important. There is also a naked chick on a motorcycle whose kinda’ hot.

Movie Car Design Master

C…. Stands for cool. Or maybe crunchie. But seeing as how this is about cars, crunchie makes no sense whatsoever. Cool, eh? See how I just whipped that out?

Cars. Cartomobiles. Ooo. That’s a word. You ever wonder how car companies come up with their names? Like Continental? Corniche? Cordoba?

Wait. I’ve got one. … Cooltinental. And so… here are some Cooltinental C’s.

Name ‘em, and win a Million Doolareshlattens!!
