Ford Mustang Curb Check

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

After performing a monster burnout, the Fox body failed to see through the smoke and drove right over a massive curb and median. Ouch, the poor Fox never saw it coming but took it like a champ. Read more about the curbed delight at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Fight The Power! And Utah’s Bill to Ban Aftermarket Exhausts

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

The Specialty Equipment Manufacturer’s Association is best known for its eponymous SEMA Show, but one branch of this automotive aftermarket trade organization is that of modern day Che Guevarra in that they fight for your right to modify your car. SEMA’s Action Network (SAN) brings certain oppressive legislative measures to the attention of people like us, who want to modify their vehicles.

The latest legislative alert, which is currently moving through Utah’s senate floor, proposes to ban any exhaust not “installed by the original manufacturer of the vehicle” regardless of whether it meets DOT, NHTSA and emissions requirements. SAN is calling on us to help fight this bill by contacting the Utah state senators to get them to vote against this bill. C’mon, people, even if you don’t live in Utah don’t allow this to become a precedent for which all other states can cite. Act now. Click here to get more information on the bill.

SpoCom Announces 2010 Dates, Our Shorts Tighten a Bit

By John Naderi

StreetFire.net

SpoCom just released its 2010 schedule and we can already tell that it’s going to be three times as good as last year. That’s because SpoCom added two new venues in Nor Cal’s San Mateo and super sexy Honolulu, Hawaii in addition to Long Beach Convention Center that’s coming back to host this show for a third straight year.

We’re big fans of this show as it’s a mix of Hot Import Nights hype, old school Import Showoff substance and SEMA tradeshow info. We haven’t seen a more pleasing blend since the Reese’s people got peanut butter in their chocolate or perhaps since Donny and Marie mashed up a little bit of country with some rock and roll (silly Mormons!).

Hit the jump to see our StreetFire original video from last year’s show as well as the press release from SpoCom showing the times and dates. You can also visit SpoCom USA for more info.

1998 Acura Integra Type R vs. 2010 Honda Civic Si

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Edmunds got their hands on an ultra low mile 1998 Acura Integra Type R and put it up against a 2010 Honda Civic Si. Guess which car they liked more? Kind of sad, really. Honda and Acura need to start building cool cars again. Full story at Edmunds Inside Line

U-Haul Trucks Getting Thrashed

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

We’ll admit right off the bat that we have beaten down a U-Haul truck or two in our day. We got a V10 powered model high sided on a pile of tires one time. It’s kind of a long story, but let’s just say that the rev limiter on that truck got used really well. The videos in this Bonanza take it to another level. This is pure rental truck violence. BangShift.com does not endorse or encourage this behavior, but since these hoons did it, we may as well enjoy it.

See more U-Haul videos at BangShift.com, including a 17 foot Ford powered box truck getting neutral dropped into a good burnout.

Hemmings Find of the Day – 1978 Buick Riviera

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

If you have not noticed, there’s a pretty big following for Buick’s Riviera outside of the striking 1963-’65 models, including this two-tone, Limited Edition ‘78. The body style seen here was only used two years (going back to 1977) prior to the downsized 1979-’85 editions. There’s plenty we could mention about the Riv that’s been printed in several Buick books, but it’s the price that’s more interesting: $3,275 or best offer. Some kind of deal, right? From the seller’s description:

1978 Buick Riviera LXXV Limited Edition. Runs/drives fine. Air conditioning and all power accessories work fine. Interior in very good condition. A survivor, 82K, the paint showing age. A very little, repairable rust.

Heck, you couldn’t find a decent, used Toyota for that price. Or did we speak to soon? See more pics at Hemmings
