Pro Solo: Drag Racing with Corners
By Rob Krider
Racerboy
Getting tired of drag racing the same old straight 1,320 feet? Is autocrossing around cones in a parking lot, racing against the clock, not doing it for you anymore? What if I told you about a place where you could compete head to head against similar cars with similar modifications in a drag race format on two mirrored autocross courses? Does the idea of blasting away from a drag race Christmas tree and then barreling into a tight turn interest you? How about coming out of that turn and seeing your competitor out of the corner of your eye, sideways, coming out of his turn just a few feet ahead of you over on the other track? You’ll need to push harder and run the next corner even faster if you plan on being the first car across the finish line. Sounds pretty crazy doesn’t it? It is absolutely fantastic competition. It’s called Pro Solo, and it’s drag racing with corners.
To learn the details, cost, car preparation, adrenaline factor and how to actually win a Pro Solo read the RacerBoy column at Speed Sport Life.

‘Motorvate Melbourne’ Public Rally
Tcassa
The Melbourne Show Grounds played host to ‘Motorvate Melbourne‘ this past Saturday. The event was to encourage all gearheads to come along and support a proposed drag racing venue for Melbourne, which hasn’t staged a championship drag racing event since 2001. The event saw a large number of US and Aussie muscle cars on display, as well as a fantastic lineup of drag cars which were all beautifully presented. Plenty of pics after the jump!

What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I finally got the Satellite out for the first time this year (how pathetic is that?). It was sunny in Seattle, and all the old muscle was out tooling around. Within an hour I saw a ’65 Skylark, ’64 Malibu, ’67 Chevelle, ’68 GTO, ’65 Mustang, ’69 Cougar… Didn’t see any other Mopars but got thumbs up from just about everyone. After sitting a few month all the fluids were still good but the tires needed some air!
How about you? What did you do this weekend?

Project VJ: Finally Some Progress
By Ron Honig
WaytooFurious
There’s nothing worse than having a project that stalls. This is what has happened with my VJ that I am going to turn into my daily driver. My initial plan was to get it on the road and then gradually do it up i.e. remove the rust and get it painted. Unfortunately it’s gotten harder to get a roadworthy on old cars in my part of the world. I can remember a few years back you were able to get a car registered with rust as long as it wasn’t structural.
The guys doing the roadworthy decided that I needed to get all the rust removed before I could get it registered, despite the fact that it was just minor surface rust. There’s no point arguing about things like this so I just decided to get it fixed. I got a local body shop to take care of it because I am out of space in my garage. I dropped in last week to check on progress and was impressed with the work. These are proper repairs with no bondo!! Also you will notice that the vinyl roof has gone, and it’s never coming back as I can’t stand vinyl on cars. Can’t wait till I get the car back next week, there’s finally some light at the end of the tunnel.
Pro Stock Bike Champ Eddie Krawiec’s Drag Radial 2000 Camaro
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
2008 NHRA Full Throttle Pro Stock Motorcycle Champion Eddie Krawiec and DMC Racing have teamed up to build a bad ass 2000 Camaro for Drag Radial class racing. When completed, the car will sport a 454ci LSX mill force fed by a 106mm single turbo. DMC’s expertise in the small tire drag car world will be put to the test, as this car will wear a pair of 275 radials to get all that power to the ground. The Camaro under the knife had only 4,500 original miles on it when DMC started filling it full of chrome-moly tube. As wild as his Pro Stock Harley is, this Camaro will be every bit its ragged edge equal. BangShift.com will be following every step of this kick ass build. Continue reading at BangShift.com

Visiting Amuse
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
One of the great things about working with Japanese companies as their distributor for a decade is that we get treated so nicely when we visit Japan!
I’ve been meaning to blog about various things we did during our last trip to Japan, and our visit to Amuse has been at the top of my list. I’ve been working with Amuse and importing their parts for 9 years now. I must say my love for Amuse Titanium and Dry Carbon has stayed just as strong now as it ever was. Hemmings Find of the Day – 1940 Lincoln Zephyr
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
If I were to pony up the $12,900 for this 1940 Lincoln Zephyr for sale on Hemmings.com, I’d leave it exactly as is. Sure, these things are supersweet when restored (and completely bitchin’ when rodded the right way), even when you do come across a Zephyr in the wild, you’re not likely to come across one with such patina. From the seller’s description:
1940 Lincoln Zephyr coupe. V -12 3 speed. Runs and drives ! Needs restored. Newer interior. Very Solid car!
So would you leave it alone or restore it? See more pics at Hemmings
