Golf on Vettes
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
I keep seeing these gorgeous cars pop up on blogs and forums proving the VW community is very much alive! A favorite is this burgundy red Mk3 owned by John Redfearn from the UK. This car showed up again when I got the latest fix of Performance VW . So I set off collecting some pictures from the web to create this spotlight. The car is obviously a Golf Mk3, but to the untrained eye it’s hard to see all the modifications. Continue reading at Speedhunters

They’re Still Out There! ’61 Vette Gets a New Home
By Rob Einaudi

Pretty much every car guy and gal’s dream… From The H.A.M.B.
I found this 61 Vette recently when I asked about a RX-7 convertible that was rotting in the backyard. He asked if I was interested in another car he had and of course I almost choked when he said it was a old Vette! Car is all original with one repaint from 30 years ago still looking good. There is a book of documentation with the car including the original window sticker and sales invoice! There is also every registration going back through three owners and bills-of-sale from each one with the cancelled checks! All service history from day one, original wonderbar radio manual, original hardtop manual and even an electric clock manual!
I got it home and points and plugs and a fresh battery and she runs like a 5 year old car. The black convertible top looks brand new! Tires have flat spots on them from sitting and are a little but wobbly but hey, I’m NOT complaining. He offered it to me for what I thought was a good price and of course I jumped on it, but after I bought it I did some research and realised it was about 60% of market value. Oh, and AFTER I bought it he tells me he has a hard top for it in a back bedroom! It only needs a little cleaning and detailing and some sunny day driving!
More pics after the jump! (The trunk shot just kills me.)

Would you expect to see this kind of mod in a late model Volvo? Neither would I. The other guys at SwedeSpeed.com seem equally confused and perplexed… More pics after the jump!

Insane Icelandic Hillclimb Action
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Icelandic hillclimb racers must hate gravity. There’s just no other way to explain why they attempt to race their tube chassis Jeeps and trucks up near vertical cliff faces, often with disastrous results. Big blocks, lots of nitrous, paddle tires, and miles of steel tubing make this a BangShift.com approved motorsport. The fact that disaster can strike anywhere from the hit of the throttle to within feet of the mountain top finishline, makes it riveting to watch.
The hillclimb moniker fails to tell the whole story on this group of crazies though. As you’ll see in the video below, they also skip these things across the water like flat stones and mud bog them through Icelandic swamps.
We’ve seen lots of videos of dirt hill climbs and even the serious stuff like the Big Eliminator at Gravelrama, but in comparison the Icelandic racers, it is weak sauce. One of the things that we really like about this video is the fact that screaming big blocks can be heard loud and clear.
Horsepower knows no language boundaries!

There’s just something about cars with flames coming out of their exhausts. This one has been prepared by Fluid MotorUnion. They have constructed a complete custom stainless exhaust for this application.

Survivor 1965 Mustang Fastback Survives A Sound Classics Test Drive
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
You have to love sunny weekend days. These are the moments one realizes how many fantastic collector cars are hiding in and around any town.
Case and point, on my way home after delivering pictures to the owner of a Lamborghini featured in a previous Sound Classics test drive, I notice a wonderful Rangoon Red 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback peeking out from a garage. A “For Sale” sign in the window is just visible enough to catch my eye. With a heavy foot to the brakes I dart onto the side street for a little car-crazy window-shopping. (A lack of garage space and a “no-more-cars ultimatum” from my wife mean nothing comes home with me until another goes.)
Opening the door to the house is the owner, a red-blooded American hot-rodder who purchased the Mustang with the intent of retro-modding it. After buying and doing some detective work, he realized how darn original the Mustang was and didn’t have the heart to change it. Hence, he decided to sell after enjoying it for the summer and look for another less factory-correct car to hot-rod.
You have to respect a hot rodder who appreciates the integrity of original survivor cars! Continue reading after the jump!
