Last Day Of School Burnout Party!
By Jen Dunnaway

Yep, it’s March, and it’s never too early to start thinking about your last day. And do these kids have an awesome high school or what? Wish there’d been rides like this in my student parking lot…

Not all teachers disapprove! I do donuts and drift my Jeep in the snowy student parking lot with my students after ski team practice.

I once did a short burnout in my ’96 Cavalier with 2.2 and 5 speed after Marching Band Practice. The next day my director confronted the whole class and asked who it was me and my girlfriend said nothing… good times. Also I used to occasionally be allowed to drive my dads ’94 Cutlass Supreme Convertible (3.4 TDOHC) and when it rained I could pull it down into first and bounce it off the above 7,000 RPM rev limiter across the parking lot. Sounded like an F-1 car to my young ears and really impressed my gear head buddies!

Zoooiks. that kid sounds like shaggy. Well, you can spend the summer working at the theater, saving up for new tires. It was so worth it dude.

I backed up to the front doors at our high school ( before cameras everywhere) and did a burnie off the sidewalk, down the driveway and out to the road about 100 yards in my El Camino, good times!

Wow, where to I begin to list all the unsafe stunts I pulled in the school parking lot. Not that I’d do any of this stuff now, but I recall being the reason that the school put up 10 mph speed limit signs everywhere (The principal caught me doing 90 across the back portion of the lot. He let me off cause I think he was in shock that a Dodge Spirit could go that fast.) Drifting was also one of my favorite hobbies as well especially in the winter when the lot was covered with ice. Donuts went in there as well. My school didn’t have any lamp poles to run into. I also did some racing there, and the occasional attempted burnout (had to put doughnuts on the car and pull the e-brake for it to do anything.) I have some fond memories in my school lot, but I also did alot of stupid stuff that could have gotten me, my friend, or pedestrians killed. Thankfully, my guardian angel was working overtime and no one ever got as much as a scratch.

Me and my best friend did donuts in the high school parking lot our senior year… the CAD teacher yelled at us with a grin.. “If someone else caught you, you’d be in big trouble!” lol

This is just what my high school parking lot looked like on our last day of senior year. A guy I knew had a ’65 mustang that he roasted the tires on until there was nothing left. Luckily he brought extra wheels and tires to drive home on.
