Block Rocked: “Rookie” Mistake Caused Mexican Crash!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
When I make a minor mistake at work, it generally involves losing a power cord, putting a spelling error on the hompage or missing a StreetFire clip that shows boobs. But when Ken Block makes a little mistake, it results in a rally car on its side. Yup, being a race driver is pretty awesome. Fortunately, he’s fine and seemed pretty relaxed about his recent wreck during the WRC in Mexico.

Check out this choose-your-own-ending style video from Hot Wheels. The coolest part about this is that Hot Wheels is actually selling the cars from the video. Mmmm, so modular. Makes us want to dust off our old orange tracks and use them for something more than just beating the crap out of our younger brother. Check out the Hot Wheels site for more info or shop for original Redline Hot Wheels.
Runaway Prius Brought To Dramatic Halt By Cop Car
By Jen Dunnaway

Just as Toyota’s recall drama is shifting into high gear, another Prius went rogue yesterday after the gas pedal “jumped and then stuck” while the car was traveling on a freeway near San Diego. Again, the Toyota driver couldn’t think of anything to do but mash the brakes, though an earlier report claimed he’d tried to throw it in neutral but could not. In any event, a quick-thinking California Highway Patrol officer managed to get in front of the Prius and bring it to a stop by blocking the Toyota with his Crown Vic’s bumper. Nice save! Interior Panel Monkey Business
By David Belau

I enjoy a good sound system like anyone else, but as someone who has restored a few cars, it makes me cringe to see original interior panels cut for the sake of sound. There’s nothing more infuriating than finally finding a perfect door panel only to discover that it has a 6×9 hole cut into it.
The previous owner of my 1992 Dodge Dakota Club Cab decided to replace the stock 5×7 rear speakers with 6x9s. The problem is that 6x9s do not fit. “No biggie,” said the monkeys at the car audio shop. “Just flush mount them and cut the interior panel with a sawzall! Be sure to reinforce everything with a couple of sheetrock screws!”

8-second Passes on a Small Tire and Only 200ci
By Brian Lohnes

While it’s kind of impossible to call a race car a sleeper, we’d never guess that a Cortina packing 200ci of straight six Ford power would be uncorking 8 second lap times all day long. This car is an amazing testament to how a science’d out turbocharger application can really bring the thunder.
This car belongs to Aussie racer Joe Gauci and according to the video it rules the strip and is a great promotional tool for his business Profam Motorsport Fabrications. Joe must get a kick out kicking ass with that little bitty motor. Thanks to BangShift.com forum member 64FalconSix for the tip!

The Automotive Bucket List
By David Clarke
highspeedhijinks
After a brief hiatus from the blog I have returned, a little older, a little wiser, and ready to get back to business. I did a lot of thinking this past winter during my absence. What direction I wanted to take my project car, how I was going to get money to work on said project car, and most importantly, what kind of things do I want to do with my car when it’s finished? All this puzzling led my obsessive-compulsive brain to start forming lists–and once my ADD kicked in, I wound up thrashing out my big-picture Automotive Bucket List: the top ten car-related things I have to do before I die. My list includes a few items that are likely to be pretty attainable, like driving cross-country in a vintage car, going to SEMA, or attending the Richard Petty Driving Experience. And one of my top ten I’m actually going to knock out this summer, when I hit up the Woodward Dream Cruise with my grandparents. The rest, however, are likely going to take some doing. How about you? Do you have an Automotive Bucket List? What are your top car-related “gotta do before I die” items?

Now here’s an RV that makes me want to hit the road. Check out the motorized pop-up second story and the bathtub with the panoramic views. The living space is petite, but looks to be pretty complete and functional as mini-campers go. See more at Japanese Nostalgic Car, including video of the roof unfolding into the “Japanese-style room” upstairs.
