RIP Donald Frey

By Stephanie Porteus

HotRodHoney

Two men stood before Mr. Henry Ford II trying to convince him to go along with their new project–a small, affordable, sporty car that would appeal to everyone. Donald Frey, who passed away earlier this month, was one of the engineers working under the legendary Lee Iacocca to help create the new Mustang. This radical new idea couldn’t have come at a worse time, as the company was recovering from the infamous Edsel, making Mr. Ford quite hesitant to take a chance on yet another new model. Follow the jump to learn more…

Mint Honda Prelude on eBay

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

This factory-fresh ’79 Prelude is a darling, with only 26,000 original miles on its 1.8L CVCC. The fact that it’s already well up over $5K really speaks to rising prices that time capsules like this are demanding these days. Love the retro dash and gauges, and the old-school dial radio in particular. Check out the auction on eBay!

Rocky Auto’s Latest

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

If you’re hardcore into JDM tuning then you cant help but get excited checking out Rocky Auto’s cars. These days there is not much quite as “gangster” as a hardcore tuned old school Fairlady Zs or Skyline. If you agree then most likely you’ll agree that nobody does it better than Rocky Auto.

I’ve been a fan of their blog lately to get my fill of that JDM old school gangsterness. So I thought I’d share with you a few of the highlights for me in the past couple of weeks from Rocky Auto Japan.

Caught On Camera: My Virtual Brush With The Law

By Chris Bicknell

Bick66

I knew this day would come sooner or later–my first “Photo Enforced Intersection” ticket arrived in the mail yesterday.  My moroseness about the fine was all but overcome by excitement over the opportunity to log onto photonotice.com and watch a video of my 2005 Corvette blowing through an intersection. I did indeed fail to stop at a red light, so I should just pay the fine, right?  I don’t think so.

Read more and watch the video after the jump!

Too Much Nose

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Remember to keep weight distribution in mind if you must put your vehicle’s four wheels in the air–pickups aren’t always the best candidates for a launch. Fortunately (or not so much for the gene pool) the hoon at the wheel suffered only a split lip and a broken nose. Thanks to Evan for the tip!

Ferrari Enzo Barely Misses Motorcyclist

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

The Ferrari Enzo is a beautiful machine, and this one almost bought a stranded motorcyclist.  Recorded ripping through the touge style canyon road at speeds reaching 150 mph, this is one crazy Enzo owner! Read more about the near miss at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Today’s pic is from Matt’s Honda Prelude ride page. Matt sent it over to me in response to yesterday’s Let’s See Some Sidewall post. Those are Yokohama Advan 225/50/15 R compounds mounted to 15 x 7 Volk TE-37s. Looks great! Keep those photo of the day PMs and e-mails coming!
