What Did You Do This Weekend?
Bick66
I charged my Impala’s battery and took on the simple task of changing the front right turn signal bulb on the ‘Vette. It was the first time for me that changing a light bulb involved removing a wheel, but all in all it was pretty simple. How about you? What did you do this weekend?

I’m trying so hard not to ask how many GM techs it takes to change a lightbulb. lol. I think GM has been doing a fine job of maintaining reliability, but all cars break and need regularly scheduled maintenance, even the most reliable ones, and that is where I’d like to give it to some young engineer sometimes. I don’t know if they see the backbreaking work that goes with the added complexity of today’s vehicles. Detroit forbids me from as little as changing a belt on my Buick… I think they left me like a whole half an inch to get my socket on the tensioner. Anyway, I had a good vacation. That was my weekend, and the 2 weeks before that as a matter of fact.

I cleaned my Escort GT’s K&N filter with the K&N recharge kit. I thought it would be a big messy hassle but it wasn’t, and the car breathes 100x better now. Didn’t realize how gummed up it had gotten.

Cleaned the shop, post-parts car. Moved the tool chests to the garage-door end because my Fiero is going nose-in so that the exchange of engines won’t get bottlenecked in the back of the garage. Put the V6 cradle on jackstands in the driveway and degreased it on Easter… do I guess I celebrated “degreaster”. Used a strange nozzle that combined water from the hose with air from the shop compressor. Loud as hell, but it worked allright. Got the Fiero in the garage… everything is ready to go.
