Big Block, Big Boom

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Unless you’re totally deaf, you can hear something go terribly wrong at about the 29-second mark. Why the dyno operator didn’t kill this poor big block before it did a perfect hand grenade impression is anyone’s guess, but the resulting carnage is impressive.

pretty entertaining. Loved the whir then snap bam boom rattle shimmy to a gushing stop. Not exactly business-as-usual on the dyno.

i’ve never seen an engine come apart like that before ona dyno. i’ve seen them blow up but not actually get destroyed, looked like the whole bottom end blew up making the oil pan fly off

Good Grief that was gruesome. If it wasn’t for that protective barrier i’d be asking if anyone got hurt.
