UTCC Gets Some Art
Grassroots Motorsports
Back in the day, every cool race got its own poster–something worthy of hanging long after the event had past. The upcoming Pirelli Ultimate Track Car Challenge–an event supported by CarDomain–falls into that category. The posters are currently at the printer.

The CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: The Dodge Aspen R/T and Plymouth Volare Road Runner
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome to another edition of the CarDomian Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, in which I highlight a car that I think is a Muscle Car, and then try and convince you that it belongs in the Parking Lot. Performance cars were waning in the late 70′s due to emission regulations and two fuel embargoes, but Chrysler still tried to create a performance image for the “F” body cars, known as the Plymouth Volare and Dodge Aspen. These cars had an ever-growing reputation for poor quality, and numerous recalls, so Chrysler was eager to spruce up their image any way they could. So, are these high performance coupes worthy of the Parking Lot? Let’s explore the Plymouth Volare Road Runner, and the Dodge Aspen R/T.
The Cars That Created Pro Mod Circa 1989
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
After seeing the photos of Ellis Vial putting his killer Pro Mod up on two wheels we went hunting for some cool video showing the early days of the class. We did even better than that, and found some stuff that predates Pro Modified as a pro class of racing. The Pro Mod class was born of wild Top Sportsman racers running their junk heads up at shootout races across the eastern half of the country. By 1989 these cars had such a following that they were ready for the national scene. It would be 1990 before the first “official” Pro Mod race was held, but damn if these shootouts weren’t just as good. This video rules.
It’ll take two seconds for you to figure out why people loved these cars and they became amazingly popular. The first pair of cars should sum it up nicely, as the awesome Mega-Ford and Christine square off at Kil-Kare Dragway. Today, the class has become so insanely competitive and hard core, the whimsy of these body styles is gone. So are the dry hops, which kind of sucks, but what remains is the wild-ass, sideways, unpredictable nature of jamming way too much power into way too short a wheelbase. That part never gets old.

They sure didn’t waste anytime in dropping this beauty to the floor. The car has been dropped using airbags and does it flawlessly with Rotiform BLQ wheels in 8.5×19-inch which are wrapped in 215/35×19 rubber. Spotted on G-Werks

K&N Is Giving Away A 2010 Harley Street Bob
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
In conjunction with this year’s K&N Horsepower Challenge, our favorite filter company will be sending eight finalists to the races and then awarding one of them this ultra-bad brand-new Harley. The Horsepower Challenge will see the top eight NHRA Pro Stock drivers face off against each other in a series of eliminations. Each finalist K&N sends to the event will be assigned to a specific driver–and whoever’s paired up with the driver who wins the event will be the one who gets to take home the Harley. Talk about having a reason to root for your driver! Become a fan of K&N on CarDomain, and check out the K&N site to enter the contest.

“Because I Was High”
By Jen Dunnaway

At least the builder wasn’t so high that he neglected to add a second bumper at street-legal height. It’d be a shame if this jacked-up ride wasn’t streetable, because you know it’s going to be great for getting pedestrians out of the way in hurry. Via the “Because I was high” thread on VWVortex. Toyota Supra Wrecks Into Mercedes-Benz
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Sliding out of control after the unknown, this Toyota Supra smashed into the side of a Mercedes-Benz SL. What really happened here? It appears that the Supra was maybe drifting or doing a burnout and just lost control. Comment your thoughts below and read more at Tampa Sports Car Examiner!

0-60 Flogs a LP550/2 Valentino Balboni Gallardo in the Wet
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
I can’t imagine too many Lamborghinis see action in the wet. But if you had the opportunity to flog a Raging Bull, would you stop because of a little rain? I didn’t think so. This video is focused on the RWD LP550 Valentino Balboni edition Gallardo, but the guys from 0-60 also got their hands on the LP570 Superleggera, which we’ll apparently see more of later. Turn the sound up for this one…
