Some Tempting Fox Bodies on Seattle Craigslist Right Now…
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ryan and I both want Fox bodies. Who doesn’t? The video by Alok Paleri today prompted me to do a Craigslist search which brought up this sick notch and this awesome LX hatch. Both are a bit out of my price range, but damn… Which do you prefer? I think I’d take the notch. More pics and ad copy after the jump!

This is an 88 Ford Mustang LX Black. 33,000 ACTUAL miles on the body. There’s only apprx. 2,500 mi. on the engine and just a couple hundred on transmission. The motor is a 351 Ford Lightning Racing Block Motor Dyno’d at 579 HP & 600 Ft lbs torque. It is supercharged with an ‘S’ trim Vortech supercharger with small pully. It has GT 40 heads & intake with triple cut valves; raised exhaust ports and enlarged intake ports polished & matched to the lower GT 40 intake with ported & polished runners. The heads flow 257 CFM per cylinder. It has 1.6 exhaust roller rockers & 1.7 intake roller rockers. It runs 38 lb Ford Motor Sport fuel injectors. Upper intake is a Hartman air box fed with 80 mm Accufab throttle body with Pro M Air 77 Mass Air Meter and K&N Air filter plumbed through fender wall. 9”Currie rear end. The engine has 1 3/4” hooker headers with Jet Hot coating to 2 1/2” H-pipe through 2 chamber Flowmaster mufflers to stainless 2 1/2″ tail pipes. The Transmission is an AOD with ford motor sport wide ratio gear set and clutches. It has GER input shaft with TPI 3200 stall converter and Baulman engineering adjustable shift kit. It has ford motor sport aluminum drive shaft with oop. The rear end has ford motor sport upper and lower control arms. Gears are FMS 3.73 ratio with SVO stud girdle cover. This car has power windows & locks. It can be driven every day on the street. The car was brought to the Mustang Shoot Out at St. Louis Gateway International Race Track back in 1996. It qualified #1 in street class with a time of 10.67 sec @ 138 MPH. Over $35,000 have been invested into this car with receipts to prove it!! Serious inquiries only please. (425) 238-0893 Thanks, Ross

89 Mustang LX sport
(original 5.0 liter car)
305 HP/300 lb-ft 4.6L DOHC engine, front brakes, hydroboost and a few other things from stock 1998 SVT Cobra with about 40,000 miles on them
The transmission is a TR3650 from an 2001-2004 Mustang GT/2001 Cobra
The entire 3.55 rear end (independent rear suspension), including rear brakes, are from a stock 2004 Cobra
Ford Motorsport shorty headers
Cat pipe to the tips is stock ’04 Cobra, but that’s probably going to change. It’s just way too quiet for me
The coil on plug ignition and Passkey system are from a 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII, which includes a nearly fail safe theft deterrent system that I would be more than happy to show you in person
Wheels from a ’96 to ’98 Mustang GT
-Tires (80%+)
The car obviously has had racing seats in it, but has a Scat/Procar black driver’s seat and a black leather SN95 Mustang seat in it at the moment.
I’ll be taking new pictures as soon as we get a decent day.
RCI cam lock harness for both the driver and passenger
It still has standard 3 point front seat belts as well
No rear seats
Lowered about 2″
-Maximum Motorsports springs
-Maximum Motorsports caster camber plates
Custom welded full length sub frame connectors
Bolt in Auto Power race w/ options roll bar (p/n 70260).
I just had the engine oil, rear diff fluid and transmission fluid changed, as well as the air filter. I’ve always kept it in the garage, but there are a few dings and marks in the paint and one dent on the right front fender, but otherwise the exterior is in great shape. Every VIN tag on every body part match and I have the free and clear title. I have kept up with the maintenance meticulously and replaced anything that needed replacing as soon as possible. The car is not without its hiccups, but nothing that can’t be fixed. I just haven’t found the need. It’s as quiet as a stock Mustang Cobra, so tint the windows and you would have a fast sleeper. Or, with just a couple things it would be a great road race car. It just sits in my shop unless I really need my shop for something else. I only drive it about once and I don’t need to sell it, but I’m ready for the next project, so don’t be afraid to make me an offer. I’d be interested in certain trades, or trades plus cash and it doesn’t necessarily have to be another car. Let me know what you have. However, if you offer me a trade and your email doesn’t include pictures and more info than “Are you interested in…?”, you probably won’t get a response from me. I work a lot, but I can try to make myself available anytime to show the car. NO JOY RIDES and NO test drives in the rain. I have lots more pictures or I can take a picture of anything you want. Please email me for any questions or additional pictures.

I have owned a 1983 Mustang notch back and a 1989 hatch. I have to say they both held a special spot for me but neither one of them had a V8 they were the sucky 2.3 liter engin’s which Ford should never put in them to begin with. If you wanted to pass a car you had to have the wind at your back while going down hill. The build quality was better on the 83 as well but I liked the interior of the 89 better. I was going to put a 351 in the 89 but then I ended up selling it. I realy like the Hatch back in this article and 351 is they way to go but I would have used a crappy 2.3 liter car and gave it some dignity rather than an already equiped 5.0.

The hatch for sure. The notch would be a dragstrip/street king, but that hatch would decimate all. That car has all the same drivetrain I am doing to my hatch for stage 2. 9 grand for that car is a steal

is it just me or does every fox body seem to have misaligned headlights. and the first one only has 33k on it! theres that early 90s ford quality for you. that being said, notch on looks for SURE. i dont know how i feel about the hatch dropping the five-oh but i’d autoX it all day long with that IRS. hell, you’ll never be doing any drag racing with it anyway, but who wants to drive in a straight line?
