This new pony is fast. Ford just released this video showing the 2011 Ford GT500 lapping VIR a full 9 seconds faster than last year’s model. Wow.

retroman I believe the tire issue is just a Ford thing. My car is 4k pounds and yet they put civic wheels on it, heck I’ve seen civic wheels wider than mine.

Considering they added 50 hp over the ’07-09 models and dropped the old boat anchor in favor of a lighter aluminum mill, I’m not surprised. I think ol’ Shel still has a few tricks up his sleeve, and he and Ford aren’t going to spill them just yet… Now that said, if any Ford engineers are reading this, could we get decent set of meats out back?? The stock tires are still a little on the skimpy side. I realize much has been done with spring rates and such, but when looking at other vehicles of comparable horsepower and torque (like the Corvette which is also comparable in MSRP by the way), I’m embarrassed to say that the Stang still comes up short getting all that power to the ground. Thank you…

That is a beautiful sound from that engine.
